Whitehorse
You'll arrive in Whitehorse and connect with your group. Before heading to the hotel, there's time for any last-minute shopping you need to do. The canoe trip officially starts tomorrow, so tonight you'll settle in and get some rest at your hotel.

Whitehorse to Carmacks
The Yukon River canoe adventure begins today when you paddle out from the Takhini River mouth. You'll cross Lake Laberge and its bays with surrounding rock faces, then move into the 30 Mile River where bears and moose show up regularly. The current picks up as you pass tributaries like the Teslin and Big Salmon Rivers. Over the next 15 days, you'll cover more than 700 kilometers from camp to camp, seeing the remote landscape and wildlife that make this region so wild.

Carmacks to Dawson City
After your rest day in Carmacks, you'll continue paddling downriver toward Dawson City. The 5-Finger Rapids come up next, and from there the river widens as more tributaries feed in. You'll paddle past islands and see Fort Selkirk's abandoned buildings, which date back to the gold mining and trapper days. By afternoon you're landing at Dawson City right where the Klondike River meets the main river in downtown. The rest of the day is yours to walk around, and that evening you can check out some local entertainment.

- Day 18
Dawson City
Spend the day exploring Dawson City and the gold fields around it. Drive up to Midnight Dome for views over the city and the river you paddled. At Eldorado and Bonanza Creek you can see people still panning for gold, just like they did a hundred years ago. There's an active mine tour at Hunker Creek where you can try panning yourself. You'll also visit Jack London Cabin and the Gold Diggers Museum. Later, head to Diamond Tooth Gertie's for can-can dancing, gambling, and shows.

Dawson City to Whitehorse
The drive back to Whitehorse takes you along the Klondike Highway in a maxivan. You'll stop at 5-Finger Rapids to photograph them from the road, which gives you a whole different perspective from paddling through them. By evening you're back in Whitehorse at your hotel, celebrating your expedition with a comfortable night and a chance to reflect on the journey.
