Bring a raincoat and extra clothes since tropical showers happen regularly. The crew sets up camp and has lunch ready when you arrive.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut with Acclimatization Hike

You'll trek from Mandara Hut after breakfast, heading toward Horombo Hut where you can see both Kibo and Mawenzi volcanoes. After lunch, do an acclimatization hike gaining about 200 meters toward Kibo Hut, then head back to Horombo Hut for dinner. These acclimatization hikes matter because your body needs time to adjust to the altitude, and it significantly increases your chances of reaching the summit successfully.

  4. Day 4

    Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Head out after breakfast and trek to Kibo Hut at a measured pace so you save energy for tomorrow's summit push. The trail isn't technically hard, but going slow and steady is essential. Once you arrive, grab lunch and spend the rest of the day recovering. Sleep as much as you can, skip anything strenuous, and drink plenty of water to prepare for the overnight climb ahead.

    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
    Accommodation
    Hotel (Alpine style dormitory huts)

    Included Activities

    • Hiking from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (10 km, 4-8 hours)

  5. Day 5

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Horombo Hut

The summit attempt starts with a night departure from Kibo Hut toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m. You'll trek at a reasonable pace, but altitude becomes the real challenge. Each pair of climbers gets their own guide who keeps an eye on your energy levels and mental state. After reaching the summit, you can head down to see the nearest glacier if you want. Then it's back to Kibo Hut for a two-hour rest before descending to Horombo Hut.

What an experience! We saw all the big 5 and much more! we saw hippos in Lake Manyara, we saw hyenas and lions so close up a few times, giraffes and zebra everywhere, loved the hotel in Ngorongoro Crater.. The guide was amazing, he could see animals from a mile away and was very knowledgeable. The hotels were great, we didnt want to leave. Great service overall, and the vehicles were clean and new.We felt safe just having our own private safari. Best trip ever! One tip, bring good binoculars and you can really spot the rare animals from far away.

He and the Safari exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone wishing to see not just the big five but much more! Thank you and a big thank you to Juma Issa!
