- ACAnna· February 14th, 2023The tour was supremely well organised and the historic places we went to were beautiful. The programme was varied, and included a walk through a village and a visit to a rural school. I was surprised and delighted by two of the hotels being heritage hotels and really lovely. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew how to include just the right amount of detail.Show moreOn The Go Tours commented on this reviewMany thanks for the fantastic review!Trip date: February 2023
- MRMr· February 27th, 2020I would love to say this tour was a great introduction to India and its customs and world renown sights but sadly this is not true. Whilst on paper the tour was set out to be a fantastic experience... what transpired was a quite let down. This was primarily down the the poor quality of the tour guide who conducted it. We had a guide called Satt who did not seem particularly interested in the tour for the most part and believed his duty was only to escort/ rush us between famous sights for photo opportunities. We received little to no information about local customs and very limited historical information on the places we visited. Anything which was delivered could be read in seconds from the placards around the premises. If questions were asked directly to the guide then information was provided , but non was provided spontaneously... this led to many many hours of silent travel on the coach. Ultimately after finishing the tour I learnt more about Indian and it's customs from a two hour city guide in Johdpur... And it really began to sink in how poor a service we had received. However it was not only at the sites where this tour fell short but also the selection of restaurants where we were to eat. Although a handful of meals were included in the cost of the tour (all of which were poor) most of the time we had to pay our own way. This would not have been a problem if we had been able to eat elsewhere from where the tour guide suggested (selected). Alas this was not possible. Many of the places were were brought to were overpriced bland tasting restaurants and service stations, which one might refer to as Tourist traps The tour guide appeared to know all of the owners very well and spent much time greeting and joking with them when we arrived. It appeared very much like back handers were taking place exchange for bringing tourists to eat there. One such example springs to mind in Agra where the guide tried to spontaneously offer to organise a "buffet lunch" to help us save time so we could not miss the Taj Mahal. When most of the group rejected this we were almost forced into agreeing to have soup and naan bread.... as picking ala carte would have been to time consuming.. Upon arriving it was clear this proposed restaurant actually always had a buffet available and no organising was ever required.. The we witnessed what appeared to be a argument between the owners and our tour guide before we were asked to pay.. And at no point were we even provided a menu to see the prices. The soup ended up being foul and the naan plain. Another such example being brought to Indiana restaurant in Jaipur where even before arriving many Google reviews had labelled as tourist traps. Myself and three others decided to fend for ourselves in terms of meals where possible and ended up tasting the most sublime dishes India had to offer. Unfortunately many of the older members of the group were no so brazen to venture outside the guides "recommendations" and were forced to experience bland food from Start to finish. In addition to the food debacle we were also taken to two textile and marble factories which again appeared to have close relations to our tour leader, where we were met by 10s of salesmen eager to seal a deal. Excluding the tour guide the rest of the tour was somewhat positive. The hotels were of a good standard in Dehli and Jaipur but a let down in Agra and Karauli village. The sights visited were all good with the exception of Dehli where all were saw was a closed market on tuk tuk. And a war monument which did not offer much splendor. Also on a positive note the bus was clean and secure and the bus driver and assistant were affable. Taking all the above into account i really cannot recommend an on the Go tours in India. The guide really is the glue which binds it all together and without this you are just a bunch of strangers on a bus... you might as well save yourself some cash and book all the components alone. I certainly won't be making another ber booking with them anytime soonShow moreOn The Go Tours commented on this reviewHi Mr Keough - thankyou for your message, sorry to hear of your disappointment with your tour in India. Asked on January 10th, 2023Is India tour suitable for female solo traveller
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written January 2023
Our group tours cater for everyone from aged 18 to those over 70, but with 34% aged 21-40 and around two thirds of them are aged over 40. This means you'll travel with like-minded passengers and enjoy incredible shared experiences in exotic regions of the world. You may even make new life-long friends along the way. You'll find a mix of solos, couples and groups of friends travelling together on tour. And it's unlikely you'll be the only solo traveller.

Asked on May 4th, 2022I m very interested in Taj Express - 8 Days, tour id 2580. I shall already be in India and hope to join your Tour without needing flights. I shall arrive in New Delhi one night in early February at 11pm. I have not yet decided what day I shall arrive in New Delhi. May I just check the tour starts with a Welcome meeting on Saturday 4th February at 18.00 hours? If so I would probably arrive Friday 3rd February and stay in a hotel. Would there be a way for me to book through you into the same hotel for convenience? What time would the flight for UK depart as I should like my own departure flight to coincide if possible?
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written May 2022
You are welcome to join the tour if you are already in India, we would just need to check if we can arrange the transfer to pick you up from where you are staying as opposed to the airport, otherwise you would just need to make your own way to the starting hotel. The welcome meeting begins at 18H00 on day one, and if you do arrive a day early, we can book your pre-tour accommodation at a rate of GBP135 per night in a solo room. This would mean you are in the same hotel the tour will start in. We do not book international flights, so you would just need to advise us on which departure flight you book, and we will book your transfer according to those times.

Traveler•Written May 2022I should be glad if you would also book me in to the same hotel for 3rd February, as you suggest for GBP 135, so I'm in the same hotel for the start of my tour. I would like a solo room. I should be glad if you could arrange transfer from the airport: I shall be arriving from Cochi at about 11pm on Friday 3rd February.
- On The Go ToursOperator•Written May 2022
We are now provisionally holding your place on this tour and have quoted on the 1 night pre tour accommodation, and will organise your arrival airport transfer for your late arrival (we will just need your flight details), and also have quoted based on a single room.
