Scandinavia and the Baltics were absolutely amazing, and having a skilled bus driver like Csaba made the journey even better—he navigated challenging roads with ease that I would never attempt on my own, proving just how valuable a professional driver is in Europe. Our group leader, Dan—affectionately called “Uncle Daniel” by me—was an outstanding guide who managed two different groups (those only visiting Scandinavia and those continuing to the Baltics) with patience, care, and enthusiasm. He made everyone feel welcome, from young adults to elderly travelers, and always ensured no one was left behind before we departed for each new destination. If anything, we may have stayed a bit too long in Norway and not quite long enough in Latvia, but every stop was a wonderful opportunity to learn about another country. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and your company did a fantastic job.

Luke was our guide for the Best of Scandinavia and Baltics Tour in September 2024. There are certain qualities that you look for in a tour guide, and Luke shines in all of them. He’s easygoing, personable, and has extensive knowledge of the history and culture of those countries where he guides. He’s easy to listen to, even when he’s delivering a monologue on local history. He’s a great storyteller with a fine sense of humor, which makes long hours on the tour bus pass by quickly. He’s fun to hang out with. If you were travelling alone, he’s the kind of friend that you would want for a companion. It’s obvious that he really enjoys his job. He cares about giving his clients the best possible experience, no matter what situation may arise. If you want to venture out on your own during free time, he can provide valuable advice and recommendations. He’s one of the best guides I’ve ever met, and I’ve travelled a lot.

This is an excellent tour and Luke is a fantastic leader! We’ve been on 7 tours with Expat, discovered them through a Tour Radar email back in 2015 and just love their approach, organization, and passion. Luke is the best of the best. He clearly loves his job and is caring and compassionate to all his travelers. He shares his joy by making it easy to experience and understand the different cultures. He does his homework and manages to give the right amount of history, and facts to not overwhelm but give a strong sense of what we’re about to see so we can better appreciate it. That isn’t at all easy but he makes it seem so. We hope to do future tours with him, he’s made this trip another excellent Expat extravaganza!

    Asked on July 30th, 2025

I am a very healthy fit 77 year old. I do at least 2 multi day 170km plus walks and/or mountain climbing per year. This year I have just completed 200km of the Via Francigena and in a few weeks I fly to the UK to do the Coast to Coast (303km) followed by Hadrians Wall 174km. My question is would I be eligible to join the 20 day Scandanavian tour which shows a max age of 75!?

Do you still have place for me and my wife on this tour and what is the price per person? For how long will the discount be applicable and what will the new price be? What is the latest date that i can confirm in order to receive discount?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten February 2025

For the chosen departure, we only have 1 seat available. Maybe you might be interested on the August 2, 2025 Departure of this tour, it has plenty of spaces left and the seat cost as of this writing is only 4,725 AUD per person.

Any possibility that somebody will cancel to leave a seat for me and my wife or that you can do something to add another seat? We cannot go with the August tour.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten February 2025

I have added you to the waiting list. Should we have availability we will reach out.

Price is based on per person double room. Does that mean I have to book for two people, or can I just book for one and share? Is there a single supplement available and how much?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

The standard rate posted on the website is indeed for a Twin Shared Accommodation, and when Solo Travelers book the tour, they will be paired with another Solo Traveler of the Same Gender and share Hotel Rooms throughout the tour. We do have Single Room Upgrades (Offered at a limited availability per tour) and the upgrade on this tour is an additional 2,165 AUD. When customers book, they are required to pay a 10% Deposit and the rest of the balance can be paid off on the final due date which is 60 Days before the tour starts. The deposit is refundable if a customer cancels the booking within 10 Days after it was booked.

Is there a minimum number of travellers required in order for these tours to proceed? Also, can you tell me what the average number of travellers is on the Best of Scandinavia and the Baltics is?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

Our Tour Capacity os 48 Pax per departure and our team would need at least half of that number (in terms of confirmed bookings/travelers) in order for a tour to operate.

      TravelerWritten January 2025

Do all/most of your tours proceed or are there quite a few cancellations due to lack of numbers?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten January 2025

For this tour, we do not have any recent cancellations due to low number of attendees. Mostly because this tour has legs that are offered as separate tours, which means that almost all of the time, the allocated number of travelers per tour (including the legs) are sold out.

Surely you can provide a guarantee of what standard of hotel like how many stars rating, you cannot blame me for asking as I would not like to be stuck in a 2star hotel in the middle of some industrial estate or undesirable area of the city we are visiting.

My wife and I are UK citizens but residents of Spain with a T.I.E.card. would we need any visas for the countries we are visiting on this tour?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten December 2024

The hotels that are used for our Tours varies from 2 to 4 stars. Technically, the 2 star Hotels are usually the ones that are considered "Heritage" hotels but all rooms that are used during the tour have a private en suite Toilet and Bath, although elevators are not always a guarantee.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten December 2024

Regarding Visa Requirements, we would recommend to check with your Local Consul/Embassy in Spain since we can only provide information related to Visa Requirements based on what we can find online as we are not a Visa Agency.
