The tour is beautiful and truly interesting, but it’s not as easy as they want you to believe. Let’s put aside the super early pick-up times — which are clearly mentioned from the beginning, but still take a toll on you — the tour is physically very demanding. The locals, especially the guides, take everything for granted. They assume people are used to the cold, the altitude, and difficult hikes, which most tourists are not. I started taking Diamox one day before arriving in Cusco and continued until the last day of my vacation, and I was fine. But I also avoided all the hikes: I took a horse to go up and down to Humantay Lake, and I booked a separate tour for Rainbow Mountain with motorbikes (which I’m really glad I did). The guide we had at Humantay Lake basically told people to just go ahead on their own, without considering that someone could get sick or fall and need help. That’s completely irresponsible and insane, especially considering we were almost at 4,000m altitude — not just taking a walk around the block! A guy who also took the horse had clear mobility issues. On the way back to the car, he fell. Luckily we were on flat ground, but what if he had broken something? The guide was nowhere to be seen and completely unreachable. Now let’s talk about the hotels: the one in Lima didn’t even have an extra blanket in the room — I was freezing. But the worst one was in Puno. The wi-fi didn’t work at all, and I mean at all. I went to reception and they sent someone to "fix" it outside the room, but it still wasn’t working inside. If you wanted to use the wi-fi, you had to stand by the door. Absolutely ridiculous! At 8pm, the restaurant only had two dish options. Despite the cold, they thought it was a good idea to keep the windows open so guests could freeze. On the last night, when I turned on the shower, the shower head fell off. I had to jump in and quickly turn off the water to avoid flooding the bathroom. I was naked and wet, so I clearly didn’t go to reception to complain. I tried to fix it myself — and that’s when I noticed it was already broken. The hotel had simply done what I did without actually repairing it properly. Horrible hotel!

Last transport to airport was 40 minutes delayed and the car sent was very old, worn and lacked essential safety euipment; safety belts on passengers seats were not able to be locked. It is disrespectful to be that delayed and the traveller is in risk of looking next trip and even perhaps need to buy new ticket. The drivers agency seems not reliable. Guides were good, Well knowledgable of area and culture and their english skills were generally good. Some of the guides were not very aware of only english speaking participants like us. The guides we enjoyed the most were Jesus and Wilbert. They were very good at explaining different topics in English and very aware of our needs. On some of the data with very Early morning pick-up the coordination between guide pickkng up and preparation message we received the night before was not aligned or the guide came much too Early and hotel reception stressed us to show up before the announced meeting time. This was quite stressfull Way of starting the day. The preparation messages sent out by agency were very informative and made the experience and exciteness for next day feel very good and comfortable in knowing details. Yet, for some of the first days, the message must be sent out earlier due to the very Early start time for the next day. Overall the tours were very Well organized and we enjoyed to experience the easy and fast forward communication with Waman whenever needed. The tour was a very amazing experience overall

The tour was poorly organized. We didn’t get enough rest. There were different tour guides for different places. Some were professional guides and some were very bad guides. We had a guide that pick up a hitchhiker! The hotels were poor quality. Mama Sara Hotel messed up our booking. They overbooked and gave my friend’s room away. So, they had to book another hotel down the street for her. And she was alone. I would not book another tour with this company and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Starting on that dates, we have the following local return flight schedule for the Juliaca – Lima route: Departing from Juliaca (JUL) – 13:00, Arriving in Lima – 14:45, Direct Flight – Duration: 1h 45m. I kindly ask you to review this schedule and plan your international departure flight accordingly. It is very important to keep in mind that there should be a minimum gap of three hours between your arrival in Lima and your international departure, to ensure you have enough time for check-in.

    Asked on September 5th, 2025

I'm can't do a lot of walking. Is this trip for me?

    Tour Details
    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

In the Peru Express tour, there are two hiking activities included: The hike to Rainbow Mountain and the hike to Humantay Lake. If you feel concerned about the walking distance, please don't worry. Both of these hikes can be reduced in length by using a horse. With this option, you will walk much less and feel less tired, while still being able to enjoy the stunning scenery. Please note that horseback services come at an additional cost, and you can decide whether or not you'd like to add them directly to your program. In addition, if you prefer not to do these hikes at all, we can replace them with alternative experiences. For example, we can offer an excursion to the Morada de los Dioses and Piuray Lake using ATV'S or other cultural and scenic activities that are less physically demanding but equally enjoyable.

is it one group traveling together for the tour, or is it several day tours combined?

    Group size
    Tour Details
    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten August 2025

This is a continuous tour; however, each day new travelers may join the group. For example, there are travelers who are only interested in visiting Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu, but not the rest of the itinerary. For this reason, you might not be with the exact same people throughout the entire journey.

    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten July 2025

If two members of your group prefer to avoid the hiking and uphill trekking activities on Days 6 and 7, no worries at all. We can offer alternative experiences such as ATV (quad bike) adventures, which are exciting and less physically demanding. We do have several hotel alternatives within the city center. And yes, if you choose not to visit Humantay Lake, you are welcome to stay in Cusco and enjoy breakfast at the hotel without any problem.

Could you give me a list of alternative options for day 6 and day 7. Are there any extra charges for not doing the day 6 and day 7 hikes?

    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten July 2025

Here are two optional activities instead of walking activities: ATV Adventure to the Abode of the Gods + Piuray Lagoon (no additional cost) and City Tour with 4 Inca Sites (additional cost of $31 USD per person). The ATV tour replaces the hike at the same price and includes pickup, safety briefing, ATV ride, cultural visit to local family, and return transport. The City Tour includes visits to Qoricancha, Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay.

    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten May 2025

We have tours like the Inca Jungle to Machu Picchu that involve activities like rafting, biking, hiking, and ziplining. Another interesting option is tours in Puerto Maldonado, which, although they are not active, you can connect with nature. Would you like to know more about this option?

I think we are interested in other excursions as well. I've looked into more excursions today and we like the 2-3 day stay in Tambopata with the Macaw clay lick and the overnight stay with a host family on Lake Titicaca. Maybe the ATVs to rainbow mtn. Pisac mkt. and Mercado DeArtisanias. Salt mines and Chinchero weavers, along with the regular highlights, and of course, Machu Picchu

    Tour Details
    • Waman AdventuresOperatorWritten May 2025

The best time to travel is between May and October, which is the dry season with less rain and more sunny days — perfect for exploring Peru comfortably. We recommend planning your trip from August onward, as the Circuit 2 tickets are still available for those dates.
