Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Tanzania
You'll arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport or get picked up from Nairobi and head to your hotel in Moshi. Once you're settled, your safari crew will gather everyone for a briefing to go over what's coming during your climb starting tomorrow.

Landmarks/POIs Mount Kilimanjaro  - Day 2
Moshi to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, you'll meet your guides and porters at Marangu Gate to register for Mount Kilimanjaro National Park. The hike starts through dense rainforest where you might spot colorful birds and monkeys. You'll walk about 8 kilometers and reach Mandara Hut at 2,725m for your first night. If you're up for it, there's an optional walk to nearby Maundi Crater that gives you nice views over Moshi.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Huts
Today's a 12-kilometer hike on steeper terrain as the rainforest opens up into alpine meadows with giant heather trees. Kibo and Mawenzi's snow-capped peaks come into view ahead. You'll cross several ravines before arriving at Horombo Hut at 3,780m, where you'll stay for the next 2 nights.

Landmarks/POIs Horombo Huts Kibo Peak Mawenzi Peak  - Day 4
Acclimatization Day at Horombo Huts
From Horombo, you'll walk toward Mawenzi Hut passing the distinctive Zebra Rocks, with steep climbs giving you good views toward Kibo. After heading back to Horombo for lunch, the afternoon is yours to rest and let your body adjust to the altitude. Talk to your guides about short walks nearby and drink lots of water to prepare for the tougher days coming up.

Landmarks/POIs Zebra Rocks Mawenzi Hut  - Day 5
Horombo Huts to Kibo Hut
You'll hike roughly 10 kilometers from Horombo to Kibo Hut at 4,740m. The landscape gets more rugged and rocky as the air gets thinner. You'll walk through sparse moorland with giant groundsels and lobelias, pass Mawenzi Peak, and cross through the stark lunar-like Saddle. Arrival happens in the afternoon, then it's an early night since the summit attempt starts later.

Landmarks/POIs Kibo Hut The Saddle  - Day 6
Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Huts
Your guides wake you at 11 pm with hot tea, then you start the final push to the summit. You'll hike about 6 kilometers by torchlight up a big scree slope to Gilman's Point at 5,685m. With good conditions, you'll catch sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. If you've got energy left, continue roughly 2 hours along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak at 5,896m, Africa's highest point. After photos and rest, you'll descend about 6 kilometers back to Horombo Hut.

Horombo Huts to Moshi
You'll descend 20 kilometers through alpine meadows and rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Your transport waits there to take you to your Moshi hotel for a hot shower and a celebratory meal where you can share stories from the past six days on the mountain.
