Itinerary
- Day 1
Isabela Island
Head out early for a day tour to Sierra Negra, the most active of the six volcanoes that make up Isabela Island. You'll hike along the enormous caldera with a local naturalist guide leading the way through colorful volcanic terrain. Throughout the trek, keep an eye out for native Galapagos wildlife and plant life that you'll spot along the route. The volcanic landscape shifts as you move, and the guide will point out details about the geology and ecology of the area. It's a full day of walking through some unique terrain, so bring plenty of water and wear good hiking boots. By the end of the day, you head back with a real sense of what makes these islands so geologically significant.
