- Day 1
Darwin to Kakadu National Park
You'll head east from Darwin along the Arnhem Highway, driving through wetlands into Kakadu National Park. The first stop is the Warradjan Cultural Centre where you'll learn about Aboriginal traditions and history. After that, you're joining a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong to look for saltwater crocodiles and birdlife, which is really the highlight here since the crocs are active and the bird populations are significant. You'll grab lunch somewhere in the park, then your driver guide takes you to the rock art galleries at Burrungkuy (Nourlangie). Walking through these galleries gives you a sense of how long people have been in this region. By the end of the day you're heading back toward Darwin after checking out the ancient rock art up close.

Kakadu National Park to Darwin
This day focuses on Ubirr and the East Alligator River area with your driver guide. You'll start by climbing through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries at Ubirr, where the art dates back roughly 20,000 years. The climb takes you up to a lookout that overlooks the wetlands, so you get both the cultural and landscape perspective. Later you're joining the Guluyambi Cruise on the East Alligator River with an Aboriginal guide who'll share information about culture, mythology, and bush survival techniques. You'll also get to visit Arnhem Land (this requires special permission that's arranged beforehand). After that, there's a stop at the Marrawuddi Art Gallery before you head back to Darwin in the afternoon.
