Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Mollepata to Soraypampa
The day starts with a 5AM pickup at your hotel in Cusco, then you'll drive to Mollepata to begin the trek. You hike for roughly 4 hours through mountain terrain with your guide pointing out local plants and wildlife along the way. By midday you'll reach Silcakancha where lunch happens with good views of the surrounding peaks. From there it's another 3 hours of hiking, and by evening you'll be at Soraypampa camp where the chef has prepared traditional local food for dinner.

Soraypampa to Colpa Bamba
Start the day with a full breakfast, then begin hiking from 3400m elevation. The trail climbs steadily to 4650m as you pass through a mountain pass on your way to Colpa Bamba camp. The elevation gain is significant here, so if you're feeling the altitude, oxygen is available if needed. You'll arrive at camp by evening to rest and acclimate.

Colpa Bamba to La Playa
Breakfast is at 6:45 AM before you head out on the trail toward Lluscamay. During the hike you'll cross some historic Inca bridges that connect this remote section of trail. After crossing, you'll continue on to the small village of La Playa where you'll have dinner and set up camp for the night in this isolated mountain community.

La Playa to Aguas Calientes
After eating breakfast, a rural truck will take you down to Santa Teresa village. From there you'll hike for about an hour alongside the Urubamba River until you reach the hydroelectric dam. You'll have lunch in this area and spend some time relaxing before heading to the train station. The 30-minute train ride takes you to Aguas Calientes where you'll check into your hotel or hostel for the night.

Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu to Cusco
Following breakfast, you have the choice to either hike for about 90 minutes to the Machu Picchu entrance or take the bus if you prefer. Once there, a guide leads you through a 2-hour tour of different sections of the park, then you get free time to wander around on your own. If you're interested, climbing Huayna Picchu is an option. In the afternoon you'll take the bus back down and catch the train to return to Cusco.
