Kathmandu to Jagat
You'll leave Kathmandu in the early morning and drive through river valleys and hills toward Jagat. The road mixes paved sections with rougher stretches, taking you past small villages as the landscape shifts. By late afternoon you'll reach Jagat, which marks your entry into Manaslu Conservation Area.

Jagat to Deng
Your trek starts on forested paths with suspension bridges connecting villages like Salleri and Philim. The trail narrows through gorges lined with subtropical forest, and you'll notice the landscape gradually showing Tibetan influences. You'll end the day in Deng, a quiet settlement sitting in this cultural transition zone.

Deng to Namrung
From here the trek climbs through thick forest and several Buddhist villages as the terrain opens into alpine areas. Stone-built houses and prayer wheels appear more frequently around Namrung. This is also where Mount Manaslu and other Himalayan peaks come into view for the first time.

Namrung to Samagaon
You'll trek steadily upward through Lihi, Sho, and Lho villages, each showing distinct Tibetan architecture and character. Pine forests frame the route as you continue gaining elevation. By evening you'll arrive in Samagaon, a large village positioned directly beneath Mount Manaslu.

- Day 5
Samagaon
This day is for rest and letting your body adjust to higher altitude. If you're feeling good, optional hikes go to Manaslu Base Camp or Pungyen Gompa. Both options help with acclimatization while giving you great mountain views before the terrain gets more challenging.

Samagaon to Dharamshala
The trees thin out as you follow the valley toward Larkya Glacier. Rocky and barren terrain replaces the forested sections, and the environment becomes noticeably harsher. Dharamshala comes into view as your stopping point, the final lodge before attempting Larkya La Pass tomorrow.

Dharamshala to Bimthang via Larkya La Pass
You'll start before dawn for the long and difficult climb to Larkya La Pass, one of Nepal's highest trekking passes at 5,106m/16,745ft. After reaching the top and taking in views of Himlung, Cheo, and Annapurna ranges, the descent to Bimthang's beautiful valley awaits. This is a demanding day with significant elevation gain.

Bimthang to Dharapani
The descent continues through alpine meadows and into forested sections, with Mount Manaslu visible behind you. The trail drops steeply in places as you rejoin the tree line and cross several glacial rivers. You'll pass Tilje before reaching Dharapani, where the Manaslu and Annapurna regions connect.

Dharapani to Chame
Now you're on the Annapurna Circuit trail, following the Marsyangdi River. Stone villages, pine trees, and apple orchards line the route as you gradually climb. Chame, the district's administrative center, is your destination and offers more services and facilities than previous days.

Chame to Upper Pisang
A deep forested valley surrounds you with sharp views of Annapurna II and rocky cliffs above. The path climbs gently past Dhukur Pokhari before reaching Upper Pisang. This location gives better views and creates a better spot for your body to continue adjusting to altitude.

Upper Pisang to Manang

Manang

Ledar to Thorung Phedi or High Camp
The climb intensifies along steep rocky terrain approaching Thorong La Pass. You have a choice to make: stop at Thorung Phedi for a more comfortable night, or push to High Camp for a shorter summit day. Either way, watch carefully for altitude sickness signs as you settle in.

Thorung Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass
Another predawn start takes you to the trek's highest point, Thorong La Pass at 5,416m/17,769ft. The ascent is steep and exhausting, but once on top the panoramic mountain views reward your effort. After crossing, the descent to Muktinath begins, a location sacred to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.

Muktinath to Jomsom
You'll descend through the Kali Gandaki valley by foot or jeep depending on your preference and energy level. Kagbeni appears along the way, a historic village known for its Tibetan culture and monastery. Jomsom, a windy town with an airport and standard facilities, is where you'll end the day.

Jomsom to Pokhara
An early flight takes you over the Himalayas to Pokhara if weather cooperates, or you'll take a long jeep or bus ride along the Beni highway instead. Either way, you'll reach Lakeside in Pokhara by evening, a relaxing finish after completing the trek.

Pokhara to Kathmandu
Your return to Kathmandu happens by flight or tourist bus depending on what works with your schedule. The evening is yours to wander Thamel or relax and recover after finishing one of Nepal's most demanding and rewarding trekking routes.
