Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Marrakech

Start by walking through Marrakech's historical quarters, taking in the different neighborhoods and their character. Head into the Souks where you'll find tinsmiths hammering away at their metal work, dyers creating colorful fabrics, and herbalists selling dried goods and spices. The energy there is intense, so give yourself time to wander and soak it in. Later, make your way to Djemaa El Fna square where the real scene unfolds - storytellers are doing their thing, musicians are playing, and performers work the crowds. Grab food from one of the stalls if you're hungry, or just watch from the sidelines.

    Start point
Marrakesh, Marrakech - Tensift - Al Haouz, Morocco (Marrakesh)

    Included Activities

    • Visit historical quarters of Marrakech
    • Explore food markets and bakeries
    • Visit artisan workshops
    • Explore historical sites and gardens
    • Visit museums
    • Guided tour of Souks with tinsmiths, dyers, and herbalists
    • Visit Djemaa El Fna square

    Optional Activities

    Landmarks
    Djemaa El Fna
    Souks of Marrakech
  2. Day 2

    Marrakech to Imlil

Drive out through the valleys heading toward Imlil village, which sits at the base of Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. Once there, you'll choose between a soft hike or going by mule to reach a Berber settlement in the mountains. Along the way, you'll meet local Berber people and get to see how they prepare traditional mint tea. By afternoon, you'll have lunch either in a family's home or at a mountain restaurant, eating typical local dishes and getting a real sense of how people live in these villages.

  3. Day 3

    Marrakech

Spend your day exploring the Medina's Souks, which are known for being the most colorful and lively in Africa. This is where the real daily life happens, and you'll talk with artisans and shop owners about their work and their culture. Move through different sections of the Souks, taking in-depth tours of each area so you understand what's happening - who's selling what, how things are made, and what all the activity means in Moroccan culture. You'll probably get a bit lost, which is sort of the point.

    End point
Marrakesh, Marrakech - Tensift - Al Haouz, Morocco (Marrakesh)

    Included Activities

    • Guided tour through labyrinthine Souks of Marrakech
    • Visits to various artisan workshops and sections

Morocco Mountain Guides provided an unforgettable experience doing a 3 day and 2 night trek from Imlil to the top of Toubkal and back. First day was trekking around Imlil with Hassan, who has grown up and lived in Imlil his whole life. He was warm and welcoming and spoke about the history of Imlil. First night I stayed in a beautiful guesthouse in Imlil with a terrace overlooking the whole village and delicious food and generous hospitality from Lahcen. Second day was a gentle day heading up to Refuge Toubkal via shrine at El Chamrouche followed by early night prior to the summit day. We woke up at 4:30am on the third day and ascended to summit of Toubkal in the dark with headtorches on getting there in time for sunrise. One of the most memorable experiences of my life, brought tears to my eyes. We then had great fun charging down back to Imlil. Thank you so much Lahcen, Hassan and rest of the Moroccan Mountain Guide team for an unforgettable experience. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. I look forward to going back sometime in the future for more High Atlas trekking with Moroccan Mountain Guides

I booked a 5 day solo tour with Ridouane (my guide) and Hassan (our driver). Let me start off my saying that the tour was perfectly smooth thanks to both of them! Sadly I had a cold the whole time but Ridouane went above and beyond to adapt to my needs such as a switching hotels twice during the trip. Besides being adaptable, Ridouane is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable guides I’ve ever hired who (I’m not joking) managed to answer every one of my questions except for one during the whole excursion! And for that one question I can’t even find info online…Hassan drove us quickly and safely across the country and was super friendly as well. I also really liked their choice of hotels! All in all guys, thanks for this trip which I will keep looking back to when I think of Morocco. Hope to see you when I’m back, this time to go north!
