Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech to Imi Oughlad to Tinzert
Your guide picks you up at 9:00 AM from your riad or hotel in Marrakech for the 1.5-hour drive to Imi Oughlad, a small Berber village sitting at 1,450m/4,757 ft where your trek starts. Once you meet your guide and muleteer, you'll load the mules and set out on a gentler acclimatisation walk through Ouirgane National Park. This is the easiest day of the trek with fewer steep climbs, so you can take in the Mediterranean-style scenery, watch shepherds with their goats in the valleys, and pass through juniper and oak trees. The walk takes about 4 to 5 hours to reach Tinzert, a small rustic Berber village where you'll stay overnight with a local family.

Tinzert to Tizi Oussem
After breakfast, you'll head up through a large oak forest with views over the green Ouirgane valley and the High Atlas peaks. You climb to Tizi N'Takhrkhourt pass at 2,200m/7,218 ft, then make your way across to the Azzadene Valley passing traditional Berber mountain villages. Walking up through the valley you'll see a rushing stream and walnut groves below the High Atlas. The walk takes roughly 5 hours and ends in a village gite at Tizi Oussem where you'll sleep for the night.

Tizi Oussem to Tizi n Mzik to Imlil
Today you'll climb out of the Azzadene Valley toward Tizi n Mzik pass at 2,479m/8,133 ft with dramatic views before descending into Imlil. If you have the energy, there's an optional detour to D'Irhoulidene waterfalls that adds a couple hours but many find it worthwhile. Lunch happens at Azib Brdoun at 1,850m/6,070 ft. After eating, you can either continue to Imlil and head back to Marrakech, or stay overnight in Arghen village at 1,880m/6,165 ft at the base of Toubkal Peak. The main walk is around 5 hours.
