- Jennifer· October 23rd, 2023The tomato travel tour of Japan was okay but in our opinion could have been better. Pros: - the tour took us to a lot of historical places that we were interested in - travel was taken care of as far as the bus to take us around and the hotels we would be staying at Cons: - we did not receive our itinerary for the trip until the week before our departure and that was only after I asked several times - the itinerary provided did not provide us much more detail than what was posted on the site. We were hoping for a more detailed schedule so that we could make reservations during our free time in the towns we would be visiting - we were given little information about the places we were visiting. Aside from a few sentences given over the bus speaker on our way to the site, we weren’t provided with any maps or write ups about what we were viewing. We would arrive and be told to go off on our own, most of the time leaving us to google or wander aimlessly. I have been part of tour groups before and typically they hand you information about each site and give you a map on places to go visit nearby. Even if the tour group wanted to save paper, they could have assembled a PDF and emailed it to us ahead of time - some of the towns had little to no free time, we had no opportunity to freely see Kyoto sites not on the tour - the beer tour that was part of our itinerary and a deciding factor in us choosing this tour was left off without explanation. We later found out that the brewery stopped offering tours after Covid, something the tour knew about and could have removed that offering in their advertising - the hotels chosen for us to stay at varied greatly in quality and the Grand Hotel in Hamamatsu was downright disgusting. It was moldy, had no amenities for us, included pornography booklets in the room, and made you pay for a TV card to watch even basic TV. Overall I would not recommend this tourShow moreTrip date: October 2023

Traveler•Written August 2025I'm interested doing the 10-day that includes Hiroshima, starts Tokyo and ends Osaka. What would be the price for it starting October 30th
- Tomato TravelOperator•Written August 2025
For the 9 Days Highlights of Japan with Hiroshima package, departure date 30 OCT 2025, the price for single traveller will be AU $4,098 per person.
- K
Keith
Traveler•Written August 2025That doesn't sound suitable since puts me out of my budget of $2500 - $3000. Do you have any other pricing options?
- Tomato TravelOperator•Written August 2025
To help reduce the cost, a simple option is to travel with a companion, as this would allow you to avoid the single supplement. Alternatively, you could consider our Highlights of Japan package (without Hiroshima), which has a shorter itinerary and a more affordable price that falls within your budget.
