- KWKevin· March 1st, 2020Tanzania Group Safari - 9 Days. Travel Africa Safari Agency. Well, it didn't start off too well. Our first day was supposed to be a hotel transfer and a free day, but we were picked up from our Moshi Hotel at 06.00 am and transferred to Arusha. The breakfast at the Arusha hotel (Arusha Tourist Inn) was very ordinary; then we were off on the tour with 4 other people. But this wasn't OUR itinerary! We went to the Tarangire National Park (Day 1) and although this NP was on our itinerary, we were supposed to visit it until Day 3. We went to the Serengeti NP on Day 2 of the tour and it was dark by the time we got to the Seronera Camping Ground. This was because our old truck broke down in the middle of Serengeti. The Seronera Camping Ground is a public campground, the amenities block was disgusting and had been vandalised and was dirty. There was very little water for a shower and having a hot shower was just a dream. Our tent was small. My idea of "budget camping" was very different than the organisers of the tours' idea of budget camping. I expected a tented-camp not a tent in a public campground with vandalised amenities. Because we got there so late we had to set up our own tents in the dark. We didn't have dinner until 09.00 pm. In the morning I had a "spirited" conversation with the guide (and half of the camping ground) and later the organiser for the tour (via mobile phone) about the conditions of the campground and how the tour was going (or not going). The campground and amenities at the Ngorongoro Crater was in much better condition, clean and with hot water for showers (so it can be done!). Anyway, the latter half of the tour went according to our itinerary and we saw all of the things we wanted to see and that was on the itinerary; albeit in a different order. When we got back to Arusha, I had a (face-to-face) meeting with Mohamad (the Manager of the tour company). We went over the tour and I made some suggestions as to what he should indicate on his itinerary. He admitted that he didn't have enough passengers for our tour so we were put onto a different tour to make up the numbers (total 6 people). For the last three days of the tour we did day-trips from the Arusha hotel. This was OK. The Arusha Tourist Inn is only a 2 star hotel but was comfortable, and was what I had expected. Although I wanted to spend my money directly with a Tanzania tour company, because (I think) it has a greater benefit to a developing nation like Tanzania, rather than a big multi-national tour company, I am now feeling a little reluctant to do this in the future.Show moreTravel Africa Safari Agency commented on this reviewHello, Mr. kelvin Wallace, It has been a pleasure making the trip possible for you, we are always happy hearing back from our customers how they have enjoyed or been in their Safari.
