- VKVivienne· April 1st, 2023I would Highly recommend Bamboo Eco tours. Having never visited Africa before, I was a little nervous as a female traveler, and wanted to use a local company. My correspondence with Edison before the trip and then being met at the airport by the very friendly and kind Herbert, my driver, reassured me. I felt at ease and safe at all times. Herbert was a fantastic driver and nothing was too much trouble for him. I was driven daily for hours and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, which allowed me to see such wonderful scenery and travel through many towns and villages full of friendly people, especially waving children. I had the privilege of visiting the gorillas in the Bwindi impenetrable National park which was an amazing experience. I also did the Chimpanzee trek in the Kalinzu forest which was fascinating to see and hear them in their natural habitat. I went on a boat along the river and was lucky enough to witness a whole family of elephants drinking from the river right in front of the boat, I saw many hippos, birds a crocodile and more. We drove through the road in the Queen Elizabeth National park , seeing many animals along the way, baboons, elephants, birds, a colobus monkey, and more. On another day, I had a wonderful experience of being just a couple of meters away from two beautiful majestic young lioness, which was just surreal. I found travelling in March out of peak season, a great opportunity to see lots of baby animals, and have more space to move around the lodges and drive along the quieter roads. The hotels and lodges I stayed in were excellent and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, also the food was delicious, especially as I had requested a vegetarian menu. Bamboo Eco tours organized the trip of a lifetime for me, which exceeded all my expectations, I saw far more than I had ever imagined. I will never forget, and will hold the memories in my heart forever. A huge THANK YOU to Herbert who made my trip fantastic. So glad you had an amazing experience trekking the gorillas and other activities during the tour. We hope you will consider visiting Uganda again. -Edison & HerbertTrip date: March 2023

Asked on August 17th, 2024Can you tell me more about the hiking conditions and length of hikes/hours?
- Bamboo EcotoursOperator•Written August 2024
Gorilla trekking takes between 3 and 6 hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the national park. Generally, gorilla trekking requires moderate fitness, as the search for gorillas can go through some hilly areas, especially in Bwindi National Park. Chimpanzee trekking at Kalinzu Forest Reserve typically takes around 3-4hrs.

Asked on February 20th, 2023I would like to know more about the times you meet and collect people on their arrival, and also, about the times you drop off people for their flights home, and also if a person wants to return to Kigali for their return home instead of Kampala, what is the charge for this journey. Also do you recommend any particular websites for the best prices for flights
- Bamboo EcotoursOperator•Written February 2023
On the first day of the 5-day trip, we pickup guests in Kigali between 7am & 11am Rwanda time (Uganda time zone is one hour ahead of Rwanda time zone). If you arrive at Kigali airport in this time window, we can still pick you up from the airport & drive to Uganda. If you arrive in Kigali the day before the tour starts, you will book a place to stay in Kigali, and we will pick you up from there on the 1st day of the trip. On the last day of the trip, we can drop you off in Kigali at no additional cost. The estimated arrival in Kigali is around 7pm Rwanda time. If flying out of Kigali on the last day, better to reserve a flight departing after 10pm local time. For flights, perhaps you can check Expedia and Kayak or look at websites for airlines flying into Kigali (KLM, RwandAir, Brussels Air, and Turkish).
