- PHPatricia· August 9th, 2024We had a great time on the Western Discovery Tour. The tour was fairly fast paced, which may not suit some travellers, but we covered a lot of scenic and interesting places that showcased the diversity of the US landscape. Our tour manager Dominique was expert at her job and everything ran smoothly. Our lovely driver Carlos is an expert behind the wheel. He kept us safe and has a great sense of humour. One thing we noted on this tour was that we had many opportunities to pick up food from grocery stores along the way which helped keep the budget in check but of course there was equal opportunity to dine in restaurants or fast food outlets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would travel with ATI again.Show moreTravel Talk commented on this reviewHi Patricia, thank you for sharing your experience on the Western Discovery Tour! - VBVeronika· July 27th, 2024Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishI have some experience with long group tours and this one was definitely the worst. The okay rating is only due to the fantastic itinerary. The tour guide including group support was a disaster. Only when things don't run normally do you realize how good a tour guide is. We had several cases of illness who were given a mask and then left to fend for themselves with a high fever. Something like that doesn't work !!!!! The group was also far too large, and if there are only families and couples on board, you simply can't accept single travelers like me. This must be taken into account when accepting bookings. In addition, the tour guide spoke IMMEDIATELY, first in English, then everything again in Dutch. There was hardly any time to relax on the bus, to reflect on our impressions etc. After a week, most of us switched off, which was very exhausting. All in all, this trip would benefit from a smaller group and a more empathetic and flexible tour guide.Show moreTravel Talk commented on this reviewHi Veronika, thank you for your invaluable feedback as we strive to improve our services each day. Asked on April 23rd, 2025I noticed that it had an age range of 7+ years listed on the tour radar site. The issue is that my husband and I would be travelling with our 12yr old and our 5 yr old. I was just wanting to see if there is any possibility that an exception can be made to allow my 5 yr old to be able to do this tour on the 16th or 30th October 2025?
- Travel TalkOperator•Written April 2025
The child age restriction exists for a number of reasons, mainly safety and customer service. The U.S. are an expansive destination, especially in the west travel times are long between destinations. Stops cannot always be made in short succession, very often there are at least two hours between them. On these seat-in tours where mixed passenger groups from different cultural backgrounds follow a rigid daily program, passengers are getting up early, spend many hours per day traveling by coach, and may not go to bed till late. Typically, the experience with bringing smaller children has not been a positive one. This extends to the children, the parents/guardians, and their fellow passengers. It is difficult for a smaller child to follow instruction consistently; fellow passengers may feel they are disruptive to the tour. We did receive complaints to this end in the past. Additionally, there are concerns when it comes to emergency situations where all passengers need to be able to swiftly react to information given by the tour director. Therefore we are unable to accommodate 12 and 5 year old passengers on this particular tour unfortunately.

Asked on January 4th, 2025how many hours in coach each day? Also, it states 18-69 we are fit 63 & 70 years old, is this an issue.
- Travel TalkOperator•Written January 2025
Hours in the coach per day varies based on itinerary. Some days have light travel, other days may require approximately 6-8 hours of travel time, including rest stops. The age guideline of 18-69 is not strict, and exceptions can be made for travelers outside this range, particularly for those who are active and fit.

Asked on October 30th, 2024Is July 3rd western discovery a confirmed or guaranteed departure? I have emailed tour hub, and I have has both responses. Confirmed and guaranteed. Would like to know the difference between the two responses.
- Travel TalkOperator•Written October 2024
A "confirmed" departure means the tour has met the minimum number of bookings required for it to operate, but it is not yet guaranteed. A "guaranteed" departure, however, means the tour will proceed regardless of any further booking changes or cancellations by other participants. Regarding the western discovery tour for the 3rd of July, it is a guaranteed departure.
