Itinerary
- Day 1
Colombo to Negombo
You'll arrive at Colombo airport where your tour leader meets you for the transfer to Negombo, just 20 minutes away. Since there's no set schedule, timing is flexible - if you get there early, the hotel pool and beach are right there waiting. Later in the evening, head out for a walk along the shore to catch the sunset and soak in the beachside feel.

Negombo to Wilpattu National Park
After breakfast, you'll drive along the coast toward Wilpattu National Park with a stop at Munneshwaram Hindu Kovil temple on the way. The afternoon brings a 4x4 jeep safari through the park where you'll search for leopards, crocodiles, wild elephants, and other wildlife. The park tends to be quieter than Yala while still offering solid wildlife viewing, so you have good chances of spotting animals in their natural setting.

Sigiriya
You'll travel toward Sigiriya with a stop at Ritigala Forest Monastery, an old meditation spot surrounded by forest and stone pathways. Once in Sigiriya, a cultural village tour starts with a tuk-tuk ride to a farmer's house for traditional hospitality, then a canoe across the lake for views of the rock fortress, and finishes with a cart ride through rural areas. The next morning, you'll climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO site with palace ruins and ancient frescoes built in the 5th century.

Polonnaruwa
After breakfast with Sri Lankan tea or coffee, you'll head through the countryside toward Dambulla in the cultural triangle. At Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO site from 1070, you can cycle through the ancient locations to see the historic kingdom that King Vijayabahu established. Cycling really lets you take in the scale and details of this historic place at your own pace.

Sigiriya to Kandy
You'll start after breakfast heading toward Kandy, which sits on a plateau surrounded by mountains, tea plantations, and rainforest. En route, stop at the Royal Cave Temple in Dambulla with its five cave temples, historic drawings, and a 160-meter rock tower. In the afternoon, check out the Temple of the Tooth Relic, another UNESCO site. By evening, there's a cultural dance show featuring traditional Sri Lankan arts and heritage performances.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, head toward Nuwara Eliya in the tea region, known locally as 'Little England' for its colonial buildings. You'll visit the Tiesh gem museum to learn about Sri Lankan gems and jewelry. In the morning, walk through Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden, one of Asia's best. While driving through misty tea plantations, stop at a factory to see how Ceylon tea is made and taste a cup. Later, choose between Ambewela Farm with its dairy pastures or a nearby Strawberry Farm, then visit Hakgala Botanical Garden with orchids, ferns, and roses. If time allows, Gregory Lake offers a peaceful walk or boat ride in the evening.

Nuwara Eliya to Haputale
In the morning, board a scenic train from Nanu Oya to Haputale, taking in views of tea plantations, misty mountains, and hill country landscapes. When you arrive in Haputale, head to the View Point for panoramic views of the southern plains, tea estates, and mountains, especially nice on clear days. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the hotel and settle into the peaceful atmosphere.

Haputale to Ella to Udawalawe
You'll explore Ella, a nature-oriented hill country village known for its laid-back feel and outdoor activities. Check out the Nine Arch Bridge, a structure built from rocks, bricks, and cement without any steel, and trek to Mini Adam's Peak, Ella's main trekking route. Then you'll head toward Udawalawe National Park, descending from the cool highlands to warmer lowlands while the scenery shifts around you. This wildlife reserve is popular for its large elephant population and varied birdlife.

Udawalawe to Galle
Start early with a safari in Udawalawe National Park, the best time to see elephants, deer, buffalo, crocodiles, and birds. After that, drive toward Galle, a historic coastal city, as you transition from inland areas to the southern coastline with views of the Indian Ocean. Once there, walk through Galle Fort, a UNESCO site where Dutch and British architecture sits in a tropical setting, and stop at the historic lighthouse on the fort's southeast side. Then visit a Turtle Hatchery Center where baby turtles start their first swim and injured adults get care.

It was once an important port for East-West sea trade and is now a busy modern city with its own character. Visit the Red Mosque, Gangarama Temple, and Independent Square. Walk through colorful streets with restaurants, pubs, and modern shopping malls that draw both locals and tourists. Finish with a meal at a well-known restaurant before heading to the airport or getting dropped at your hotel in Colombo or Negombo.
