Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Santa Maria
Your pickup starts around 6 am from the hotel, and then you'll drive through the Sacred Valley with views of the Vilcabamba and Vilcanota mountains passing through Chinchero. You'll stop in Ollantaytambo to stretch your legs before heading to Abra Malaga pass where you get fitted with biking gear and receive some training. After that, it's a downhill cycle to Santa Maria. There are small Inca ruins at Huamanmarca to check out, and in the afternoon you'll do white water rafting. Dinner happens in town after you settle into your accommodation for the night.

Santa Maria to Santa Teresa
Breakfast starts at 6 am, then you'll head out for a full hiking day. After walking for 45 minutes along the car route, you'll join the original Inca Trail and hike for 3 hours through banana, coca, yucca, and coffee plantations with views across Vilcanota Valley. Lunch stops at Quellomayo village where you can rest or look around. From there, you continue hiking for 3.5 hours alongside the Vilcanota River until reaching Colcamayo hot springs, which gives you a couple hours to relax in the thermal waters. A final 45-minute hike takes you to Santa Teresa where you'll stay overnight at a hostel and have dinner at a local restaurant.

Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes
Wake around 6:30 am and have breakfast before the zipline company picks you up at 8 am. You'll complete a 2-hour zipline activity with 4 different cables and a suspension bridge included. After that, you'll drive for an hour to Hidroelectrica where lunch is waiting. Then it's a 3-hour hike to Aguas Calientes following along the train track. Check in at your hotel and plan on dinner around 7 pm. You'll need an early start tomorrow for Machu Picchu, so get some rest.

Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and return to Cusco
Your alarm goes off at 4 am so you can prepare for the hike to Machu Picchu. Pack your breakfast and walk for 30 minutes to reach Puente Ruinas checkpoint, which opens at 5 am, making sure to have your passport and tickets ready. Hiking uphill for about an hour gets you to the main gate, and you'll arrive around 6 am. Your guide leads a 2.5-hour tour through this iconic Inca city, covering its history and significance. After the guided portion, you'll have free time to wander and explore on your own. Later, you'll return to Cusco either by train or car.
