- GJGordon· November 30th, 2024Poor organiation -Wingbuddy spent way too much time criss-crossing to Lisbon with a very inaccessible hotel. Drivers faced traffic delays, lacking of parking and difficulty accessing the hotel. One day hit a parked car trying to park our. driver also got lost one day in the countryside.WE would have had another day in the Algarve if not returning needlessly to Lisbon.WE should have flown directly from FARO to the AZORES but were again routed through Lisbon. But the WORST was yet to come. Wingbuddy failed to notify us of a flight cancellation leaving us stranded when the problem was EASILY solved if notified in time. You and your $$$ deserve better.Show moreTrip date: October 2024

- PPamela· June 11th, 2024We arrived with Wingbuddy TOUR on Monday, May 27, 2024 at our hotel Marques de Pombal. It was a fast check-in. The room is nice and modern, but the carpet needs to be changed. Our first breakfast in the hotel was very good. Breakfast was excellent each morning. We spent our first day walking around Lisbon, having a late lunch at The Bifanas of Afonso. They serve very tasty pork sandwiches which are only 3 euros. Coffee and natas are a must anywhere in Portugal. Anytime we needed help, we went to see Paulo at the front desk. Our tour guide Goncalo is exceptional and knows Portugal's history and is passionate about the history of Portugal. However, he lacks patience with those that have mobility issues. He also seems to favor certain people within the group more than others. Other people in our group also noticed 9the same. He is a tall man with of course long legs which means he walks fast and some people, especially some of the older people can't keep up with him. It doesn't really seem to bother him if some of these people are way back. Our bus driver Manuel is a true magician and in a class of his own when it comes to driving the tiny streets of Portugal. We had a tour guide named Maria she never introduced the bus driver and the whole time on the bus she didn't talk to us (very strange). One of our excursions included Estorial, Cascais, Sintra and Cabo da Roca. We enjoyed it very much with lunch at our tour guide 's favorite Piri Piri chicken restaurant. We had an excursion throughout Lisbon. It included a visit to a 500 year old Monastery Geronimo. We then visted an incredible statue of kings, queens and emperors by the water. There was also a map of the world on floor tiles with important dates that highlighted Portuguese accomplishments. We next visited a beautiful park and garden where the tsunami of 1974 had caused devastation. We depart from Lisbon towards Porto. Along the way, we visited Obidos, filled with tiny narrow walking paths. We then visited Alcobaca's historic Monastery. We continued to Nazare where we stopped for a cod fish lunch with the view of the beach. Our last stop was Batalha 's 870 year old Monastery. Later, we drove to the HF Fenix Porto, a very impressive in Porto, we visited a Mercado, St. Caterina's church, an interesting presentation on Porto wines at its winery followed by a wine tasting of two of its delectable port wines. We were surprised that certain people in our group asked for a glass of water and it was refused. But, when we asked for water, it was given to us with no hesitation. We also visited the exterior of the bookstore where J.K. Rowling was inspired to write her novels (Harry Potter). Later, we walked down to the city center for some shopping and walked back to our hotel. Supper was eating the famous francesinha sandwich. We had a nice excursion in the Douro Valley River region where the wines are the best in Portugal due to the weather conditions. We went to a spectacular lookout at St. Leonardo. This was followed by a one hour boat tour on the Douro River adjacent to hundreds of vineyards. We then had a Douro wine presentation accompanied with a drink. The winery then served us an excellent meal consisting of appetizers, soup, beef, potatoes and cabbage. They also served us a sumptuous dessert of baked pears, chocolate cake and creme brulee. All of this incredible meal was accompanied with their white and red wine and a shot of grappa. We left Porto to visit Fatima. It was magnificent with its impressive square and church. A mass was also being attended by about 7 thousand people. Lunch was pizza at Tomar. Supper was at Healthy Greens in Lisbon. We then transferred from Lisbon to Algarves Velamar Boutique Hotel (4 hours by bus). One hour exciting boat tour at the Benagil caves. The 70 Euros per person from the Wingbuddy tour guide in Portugal is definitely overpriced and you could do this on your own for 35 Euros at the same place with other boats (companies). After that, we just walk around. Free time and lunch (pizza and salad) at Lagos (Gionanni restaurant). Our tour guide was Elsa. We walked to the city center and then went for supper. We walked to the Maria Luisa beach before our departure back to Lisbon. If you search for the Velamar Boutique Hotel online they claim that it's 550 meters from the beach, but this is not so. It is about 1200 meters to the beach walking on the city sidewalks and hotel properties to get to the beach (we used our pedometer twice). It might be 550 meters they claim if you cross the street and walk through private properties, bushes and forest! Our TAP AIR experience was excellent. All the flight attendance are very helpful and attentive to the passengers. All meals on board were included even wine. The only thing we didn't like is having to pack our bags to go back to the Marques de Pombal 2 times in between our tours. Overall, we thought 47 people in the group was too big but nevertheless a nice trip in a beautiful country!Show moreWingbuddy commented on this reviewThank you for your detailed and thoughtful review Pamela! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the diverse experiences Portugal has to offer and appreciated the excellent service from our guides, drivers, and hotel staff. We also appreciate your feedback on...
