    Donald

    Asked on February 21st, 2023

How difficult are the hikes? I see elevation gain 3000 feet? If this correct?

    Tour Details
    • Wildland TrekkingOperatorWritten February 2023

The high point on this trip is 10,850ft at Mt Hoffman, and the low point is 4,000ft in Yosemite Valley. The first day is about 3000ft of combined elevation gain/loss going up to Vernal and Nevada Falls and back. The second day is about 1800ft of elevation change. The third day is about 2540ft of change. The fourth day is about 1500ft of change. The last day is about 2020ft of change. This trip is along well maintained trails that are pretty safe. Some minor concerns include loose dirt, large stepping stones and tree roots. That said, there are multiple places in the park that have vertical exposure including the top of waterfalls, unmaintained mountain summits, or trail switchbacks. The top of Vernal/Nevada falls has exposed vertical drops with safety railings in place. Guides are great at coaching guests through areas that are potentially hazardous. The longest day is Day 3, when we'll cover about 10 miles. Thankfully we're only carrying small 10-15lb day packs each day, rather than heavy 35lb backpacking packs.
