Itinerary
- Day 1
Kigali
You'll arrive in Kigali this evening and connect with your group and local leader at 6pm. After checking into your accommodation, you'll have time to settle in and get oriented for the journey ahead exploring Rwanda.

- Day 2
Musanze
Following breakfast, you'll head to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre to learn about Rwanda's history and spend time in reflection. Then you're driving to Musanze, which serves as the entry point to Volcanoes National Park. In the afternoon, you'll visit The Gorilla Doctors headquarters where staff share their work protecting mountain and eastern lowland gorillas.

- Day 3
Musanze
This morning takes you to The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where you'll learn about mountain gorilla research and conservation efforts happening there. The afternoon is yours to choose from several activities: golden monkey trekking, a canoe ride on the Mukungwa River, or visiting Redrocks Rwanda for local cultural demonstrations.

Musanze to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda
You'll cross into Uganda heading toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive itself feels like a safari, giving you chances to spot African elephants, buffalo, hippos, warthogs, Nile crocodiles, leopards, spotted hyenas, lions and chimpanzees. Later you'll settle into a simple safari lodge that overlooks the Kazinga Channel.

- Day 5
Queen Elizabeth National Park
An early 4x4 game drive starts your day, with chances to see leopards and lions in their habitat. Later in the afternoon, there's an optional cruise down the Kazinga Channel where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, elephant herds and a variety of birdlife from the water.

Landmarks/POIs Kazinga Channel Lake Edward Lake George - Day 6
Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Sector)
You're heading to Ishasha in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to meet local residents and see rural Ugandan life up close. You'll visit an organic farm and homestead, then learn traditional Bakiga cooking methods from a local woman. During the game drive to your ecolodge, keep an eye out for the park's famous tree-climbing lions.

Landmarks/POIs Ishasha Sector, Queen Elizabeth National Park - Day 7
Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kisoro
The drive toward Uganda's southwestern tip takes about 6 hours and resembles a game drive itself, with opportunities to see zebras, antelopes, baboons and monkeys along the way. By afternoon you'll arrive in Kisoro, situated where Uganda's borders meet Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, positioning you for access to multiple gorilla groups.
Landmarks/POIs Mgahinga National Park - Day 8
Bwindi National Park
You'll trek through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park's rugged mountainous terrain with a guide and trackers searching for mountain gorillas. The trek can be wet, muddy and difficult, but an hour watching a gorilla family eat, rest, groom and play makes it worthwhile. After returning to the lodge, you'll have time to reflect over dinner.

Bwindi to Kigali
After breakfast you'll begin the drive back to Kigali. Once you arrive, your adventure concludes with no further scheduled activities. If you'd like to stay longer, reach out to your booking agent about extending your trip.
