Asked on February 12th, 2025Is March 28, 2026 not a good time to go to Madagascar because it is always raining every day?
- Explore!Operator•Written February 2025
The best time to visit Madagascar depends on what you want to do and see. The country is green and fresh after the rain that falls between January and March, with lemurs and reptiles active and easy to spot. While there are some heavy downpours from April to June, these are interspersed with sunshine, while July and August are cool and dry, making this an ideal time for exploring. The whales arrive on Île Sainte-Marie in July and remain until the end of September. Between September and November the weather is particularly lovely, remaining fine and warm. This is also when jacarandas are in flower and many lemurs have young. While December is hot, lemurs, reptiles and tenrecs are active, which makes for good wildlife viewing.

Asked on December 19th, 2024How strenuous is this trip. Is there lots of steep tracks to walk
- Explore!Operator•Written December 2024
Some of the walks on this tour can include steep portions. For example, in the rainforest, there are steep walks into the rainforest footpaths for about 3kms. The basic walks offered are manageable by the vast majority of clients. There is always an option to take a shorter easier walk which will still give an opportunity to see the sites visited. The shorter easier walks would involve hiring a private guide at the national parks though and there would be a fee associated with this. The fee is approximately USD$25.00 at each reserve and can be organised and paid for locally on the tour.
