Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Negombo
You'll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo and head to your beachfront hotel in Negombo. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to spend however you'd like. Take a dip in the pool, walk along the beach, or just stroll by the water in the evening to get a feel for the area.
- Day 2
Negombo to Sigiriya
Following breakfast, you'll travel inland through the countryside toward Dambulla. Along the way, stop at Kurunegala Rock to take in the views across the landscape. Later, you'll experience rural village life with a tuk-tuk ride and catamaran journey, then have lunch with a local farming family who'll prepare homemade curry. In the afternoon, head to Sigiriya Rock Fortress to walk through the ancient ruins and catch the sunset from the top.

Sigiriya
After breakfast at your jungle resort, you'll cycle through Polonnaruwa, a former medieval capital and UNESCO site with centuries of history to explore. Later in the day, a 4x4 jeep safari takes you into Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park to look for wild Asian elephants and other wildlife. Back at the resort, you can relax for the evening, and there's an optional Ayurvedic massage if you're interested.

Sigiriya to Kandy
If you're up for it, there's an early hike to Pidurangala Rock for sunrise. After breakfast, you'll visit the Royal Cave Temple complex at Dambulla, a UNESCO site with five ornate cave temples and over 150 Buddha statues inside. Then you'll drive to Kandy in the afternoon to see the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, finishing the day with a Kandyan cultural dance performance in the evening.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Start by visiting a local gem museum to learn how Sri Lanka's famous gemstones are cut and worked. Then you'll drive through tea country, stopping at a working Ceylon tea factory where you can see the production process and sample freshly brewed tea. Arriving in Nuwara Eliya, you'll walk through this colonial town to see Queen's Cottage, the Hill Club, and the local markets.

Nuwara Eliya
You'll spend the day exploring the highlands, starting at Ambewela Farm with its open pastures, grazing cattle, and wind turbines offering nice views and insight into rural life. Then head to Hakgala Botanical Garden, one of the highest gardens in the world, where colorful flowers and exotic plants grow beneath the towering Hakgala Rock.

Nuwara Eliya to Yala
Board the famous train from Nanu-Oya to Ella, and you'll wind through rolling tea plantations, misty forests, waterfalls, and old colonial bridges. Once you arrive in the mountain village of Ella, there's time to check out the local cafés and viewpoints. After that, you'll head down from the highlands toward the southern plains, stopping at Ravana Falls before reaching your safari lodge near Yala National Park.

Yala to Unawatuna/Hikkaduwa
Head out early on a 4x4 jeep safari through Yala National Park hunting for leopards, sloth bears, elephants, crocodiles, and colorful birds. From there, travel to historic Galle to walk through the well-preserved Galle Fort with its cobblestone streets, old colonial buildings, and lighthouse. Later, visit a Turtle Hatchery Centre to learn about sea turtle conservation efforts, then end the day relaxing on the beach back at your resort.

Unawatuna/Hikkaduwa
You'll spend the day at your beach resort in this coastal spot with soft sand, clear water, and palm trees. Kick off your shoes and relax on the beach, or pick from optional water activities if you want something more active. This is your time to unwind and recharge.

Have one last meal at a local restaurant before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.
