Unfortunately, the tour operator, BH Lanka, gave us no advance information about the start of the tour which led to considerable confusion on our first day. The itinerary was good with lots of highlights but there wasn't much to see on the east coast. The train ride through the mountains was fun and, even with some rain and fog, the views were astonishing.Show more

Sri Lanka's nature is even more varied than expected, the culture gigantic and the food delicious. Trip date: January 2025- DPDiane· January 23rd, 2025BH Lanka did a poor job in communicating with us the day we arrived in Sri Lanka regarding how we were to meet our tour guide the following day to begin our tour. We learned on the first day of our tour that our driver was just that, a driver and not a tour guide. We expected to have both. There was also confusion on which tour activities we had already paid for in advance and which activities required additional out of pocket expenditures, and there was no guidance on tipping practice in Sri Lanka. With all that said, our driver turned out to be excellent in taking good care of us, accommodating our requests for fitting in additional side trips on our route, and making suggestions to enhance our experience. We opted for the hot air balloon ride and this was a real bucket list moment. Our tour guide was Buddhika and he drove us safely around Sri Lanka showing us all the sights, buying us king coconuts to drink. He was always on time and the organisation was excellent. The communication from the tour company before and during travel made us feel very confident and we could relax and enjoy our holiday of a lifetime. - Sarah· February 28th, 2020This tour, for us, was a perfect selection of the cultural, architectural, and natural highlights that this stunning country has to offer. You’re on the road a lot to fit it all in - we covered over a 1500KMs! - but the car was a hybrid, in good condition, with air con, and our driver Cami, was amazing. He was a really safe driver, friendly, thoughtful - suggesting places to stop off to break up the journeys, knowing the best times to drop us off at an attraction etc - Nothing was ever too much trouble. As two female travellers, feeling safe was important and this tour gave us the freedom to explore but the ease of knowing Cami was waiting round the corner to whisk us off to the next location! The hotels were really well selected too - Good quality, with lovely spacious accommodation and grounds. In Dambulla and Passikudah we even had the pools to ourselves! The peace and quiet was very welcome! We chose to upgrade hotels at two locations before the tour, which was easy to arrange with Bianca. The main differences between this tour compared to some of the more expensive small group tours is that here you pay most of the entrance fees yourself and you don’t have a guide in the attractions unless you pay for someone there. There were only two occasions when visiting temples that we felt a guide would have been helpful though. The rest we could work out ourselves! All in all we had a fantastic 12 days.
