For the most part, the tour was excellent: well organized, informative, and a wide variety of experiences. Unfortunately, we ended up battling the elements. Day two of our tour was basically eliminated due to high winds. Certainly not the fault of the tour operator, but a very big let down, I was so looking forward to the glacier hike and the ice cave. I was not impressed with the Wilderness Center. They spent too much effort making the place rustic, and not enough making it comfortable. That said, the food there was excellent.

Iggie was the perfect guide. A native Icelander, he knew the history of everything, and his background of medieval literature enabled him to fill us in everything ancient and modern. He explained some Icelandic sagas. The mind-boggling fact that Iceland has more than 1,000 named waterfalls stuck with me I loved the many waterfalls, varying landscapes, mountains, fjords, glaciers along with cattle, sheep and Icelandic horses. One of the most impressive sights was that of the visible rift between the separating North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Fall colors were muted but beautiful.

Review of Arctic Adventures Tour with Tour Guide, Omar: This was a very disappointing experience, and Arctic Adventures owes us a refund. Omar was by far the worst tour guide we’ve ever had. He offered almost no commentary about Iceland, stayed silent during drives, and left us to ask him about meeting times and return instructions. He rarely accompanied us at the sites—just waited on the bus. Basic courtesies were lacking: there were no introductions, no goodbyes, and no guidance. By day two, his attitude turned dismissive, sometimes even sarcastic. He rarely ate with us as well. When he did speak, it was unhelpful. For example, he dodged simple questions, made “clever” jokes instead of giving answers, and dismissed concerns about the weather. Yet when seated with another couple not part of our tour at dinner one evening, he suddenly became animated, sharing detailed stories of Iceland—the kind of insight our group had been denied the entire trip. It was both frustrating and disappointing. And when he did talk, it was hard to follow what he was saying, On top of that, the bus was a disaster: 292,000 kilometers, mechanical failures, and constant computer restarts to shift gears or reverse. These issues persisted for two days before a replacement was provided, which limited the vehicle's speed and caused us to waste time and backtrack to obtain another vehicle. This vehicle should have been replaced on day one! The new van was a downgrade—no Wi-Fi, no microphones, fewer seats, no handrails—and even forced one passenger into the front seat with Omar. To make matters worse, Omar’s driving was reckless, often overtaking multiple vehicles at once, putting passengers at risk. Those seated up front confirmed he took unnecessary risks, as they witnessed his actions. Combined with the poor guiding and faulty vehicle, this tour was unsafe, unprofessional, and not worth the cost. On top of that, as Omar was driving so fast with the replacement vehicle, he managed to get a huge nail stuck in one of the tires. We had to wait almost 2 hours at a convenience store nearby while Omar obtained help to replace the vehicle. For future travelers, you need to provide better experienced guides who tell you more specifics about the history of Iceland and what we are seeing. This tour was unsafe, unprofessional, and far below the standard Arctic Adventures promises. We deserve and demand a refund—not only for the lost learning experience but also for the wasted time and unacceptable safety risks. Anything less would be taking advantage of customers who put their trust—and safety—in your company.

The tour was in two sections (although not sold as that) - 6 days around Iceland with tour guide Adolf and the seventh day is a separate tour with a different guide (and people) to the Snaefelssnes peninsula. The six days was exceptional - a local guide with a tremendous passion for Iceland, its nature and its history. The seventh day was a LONG drive with four very good stops and beautiful scenery, but it’s a long time between toilet stops and lunch quite late (so take snacks and drinks).

What a great express adventure. Itbwas like a buffet of Iceland, sampling and exploring all of Iceland in 7 days. Though it may seem like a short trip. My family and I felt like it was full trip with many sightseeing places and fun activities ti partake in. Bjorn (ask for him as for your tour guide, he's the best) was the bes toue guide we could have ever had as a varied icelandix tour guide. He was fun

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten November 2025

A separate outing for the Northern Lights is not included in the tour, however if there is a chance to witness them in the evening, our guides tend to inform their groups and the customers can look for them right from the hotel in which they will be staying for the night. The average number of travelers in Iceland during mid-January to February is approximately 280,000 to 300,000 total visitors for the two-month period. We can have up to 18 participants on the minibus. The minimum number of participants required for the tour to be operated is 4. The single room supplement fee is 14000 ISK per night. As you are interested in our 7 day adventure, the fee would be 84000 ISK. Our tours are designed by taking into consideration of daylight hours. That way, we are able to visit all of the locations before it gets dark. Of course, the drive from and to the hotel most likely be operated in the dark. Usually, the groups will be traveling around 8-9 hours per day. We tend to spend 20-50 minutes at each location which is enough to explore each area, take some photos and enjoy the sightings.

I would love to do an ice cave tour, a glacier hike, whale watching, and of course, chasing the Northern Lights! Are these doable in the 7 day tour? Or is the 6 day tour just as impactful?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

The 7-day tour from October onward includes both an ice cave visit and whale watching. The glacier hike is no longer part of the itinerary during the winter season. Northern Lights hunts are not included in the 7-day tour. If seeing the Northern Lights is a priority, you'd want to consider an 8-day tour, as it includes 2 northern light tours.

The accommodation we offer during the tour are 3 stars hotels - standard comfortable rooms with made beds and provided towels. There are no heated floors in the rooms - but hairdryers are certainly there! If you cannot see a hair dryer in your room, then you just need to ask at the reception desk.

I've read recent reviews that stated that the Myvatn geothermal pools were in poor conditions compared to Vok or Forest Lagoon. Will the tour take us to the Forest Lagoon instead?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

Yes, the Myvatn Nature Baths are going to be closed for renovation soon, and customers booked on the 7-day tour in January will go to Forest Lagoon instead.

Do your 6 day Around Iceland Adventure and the 7 day Complete Iceland tour both include a Wilderness Center stay?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten October 2025

Yes, both 6 day and 7 day tours usually include a night at the Wilderness Center in the itinerary, although occasionally some of the groups stay in nearby Egilsstaðir. However, all groups go to the center for sightseeing.

I wanted to confirm that the Myvatn baths are included? It was in the tour agenda and stated as part of the 7 day tour. However, on the 6 day tour, it was noted as an add on.

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten October 2025

The Myvatn nature baths is an optional activity as is stated in the 7-day tour's description. You don't have to reserve it ahead of time, since you can pay the admission fee on the spot.

Do you provide airport pick-up, or could you please specify the exact pick-up and drop-off points? Are there any locations on the tour that require an additional entry fee, or is everything included in the tour price?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

Airport pick-up and drop-off are not included in the price of the tour. We only offer pick-up/drop-off services from Reykjavik. Most of the admissions are included in the price of the tour. However, if you would like to join the admission at the Myvatn Nature baths, you would have to add the payment (7400 ISK per person) to your booking or cover the admission fee on the spot, on the day of the particular activity.

Pick-up for the 7-day tour starts at 08:00 AM, so unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to join the tour on the same day as your arrival. I would recommend booking the tour starting on August 15th instead. The Whale Watching excursion is included in the tour package — there's no extra cost for it.

Could you please tell me what the big differences/things you miss on the 6 day tour compared to the 7 day tour?

    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten August 2025

The 7-day tour includes the Snaefellsness Peninsula tour on the last day of the tour, this is the main difference between the two tours. The rest of the adventure is the same 6-day Around Iceland tour. On the 7-day tour, we would accommodate you for 6 nights whereas on our 6-day adventure, we will accommodate you for 5 nights. There is also an 8-day Ring Road tour, which provides accommodation on the 1st and 7th nights in Reykjavik.

    Tour Details
    • Arctic AdventuresOperatorWritten July 2025

Our 7-day Complete Iceland is still available on your desired date. The initial price of the tour, without any extras or single room fees is 2548 USD. However, if you are a solo traveler and want to enjoy the privacy of your own, then the single room fee has to be added to the booking. This way we will be able to guarantee that you will get a single room for the duration of your tour. On the other hand if you are completely fine with sharing your room with another traveler of the same gender, you could select a twin room instead of single one. We have additional extras such as Myvatn Nature baths, hiking boots, waterproof pants, waterproof jackets. The price per each rental item is around 37 USD for the duration of the tour. The price for the Myvatn Nature baths is around 61 USD per ticket. Please note, the tour does not include pick-up /drop-off services at the airport. In this case, you would have to book a transfer to and from the airport.
