Asked on January 27th, 2024What vaccinations are required, visa requirements from Australia, tipping, is gratitude included in the price, or is there an actual dollar amount expected to be given or just tip a fair amount, with no expectation. We're a father and daughter hiking together, what is the hut's accommodation/sleeping arrangements.
G AdventuresOperator•Written January 2024On the trek you will stay in non-heated, wooden A-frame huts with simple, single beds that have thin mattresses (Twin Share). There is no electricity so headlamps are essential. Your third sleep, before your summit hike, will be at the most basic of the shelters. This structure has many bunk beds, shared with several other hikers. With the altitude, the shelters do get very cold. For added comfort and insulation, you may consider bringing your own sleeping mat to lay on top of the provided mattresses. Please provide your own sleeping bag and pillow. All huts have shared toilet and bathing facilities.

There are a few routes to the top of Kilimanjaro, and you would need to decide which route is best for you. Each route offers different tracks and views. I understand the easiest route is the Marangu Route, but its still pretty tough.

For your hike on Mt. Kilimanjaro, you will be lead by an experienced certified mountain guide. To round out the team, you will be joined by an assistant guide, a cook, and a team of porters. Each hiker will be accompanied by 2 porters. A guideline amount for tips would be between 150-200 USD per climber. Tipping guidelines per day: CEO/Chief Guide: $10-15 USD, Assistant Guide: $8-10 USD, Cooks: $7-10 USD, Porters: $6-8.

August is one of the best times to climb due to the weather at that time of year, however that also means it is one of the more popular and therefore busier times on the mountain. We can add extra nights of accommodation onto your booking before and after the tour itself to make the experience better for you.
