Oceane· July 13th, 2025I had an absolutely wonderful week enjoying Maderia's nature and culture. Joao was an incredible guide - so knowledgeable, accommodating, kind and patient the entire week. All the walks were beautiful and there was a nice balance of physical activity and down time. I felt very comfortable as a female solo traveler and really enjoyed the time we spent in nature. Two things to note - the airport transfers are included; however, I waited over an hour when I arrived only to realize that I had to wait for other group members to land. It would have been appreciated if this was communicated to me beforehand. Explore responded immediately via WhatsApp but failed to mention that I would need to wait for as long as I did. Secondly, Hotel do Carmo (the last hotel we stayed in) is undergoing extensive construction which iwas incredibly loud (throughout the entire day). Overall, I would highly recommend, especially if you can get Joao as your guide!Show more

One notable subject was that our guide gave us excellent service and consideration. - Paul· July 8th, 2024Joã was an excellent guide The group were all friendly and we got along well even though we were from 5 different countries and ranged in age from 22 to 72. The hikes were very well planned and there was always a great view or waterfall. The most difficult hike was on the last day and I feel the walks leading up to it increased my stamina. The leader was always making sure we were safe while being very enthusiastic and encouraging. The lodging was adequate. The transportation was excellent. He made sure every person was safe at all times and kept track of all of us. I loved learning about this beautiful island from Filip who is a native Madeiran. The other travelers were lovely people. We enjoyed every walk together, every meal shared was full of laughter and good wine. This is one island I would like to visit again and stay longer.
