Cape Town
Start the day exploring Bo-Kaap, the multicultural neighborhood with colorful buildings and local character. Later you'll walk through Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden with a guide, then head to Boulders Beach to see the African penguins up close. The afternoon takes you to Cape Point lighthouse and the Cape of Good Hope, the southwesternmost tip of Africa.

Cape Town
This is your leisure day in Cape Town with lots of choices. You can ride the cable car up Table Mountain for city views, check out the V&A Waterfront, visit museums or theaters, or go on a wine tour around Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. If you're into adventure, abseiling is also an option.

Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
Drive along the Panorama Route, one of the world's great scenic drives. Stop at Blyde River Canyon and Bourke's Luck Potholes to take in the landscape, then check out the panoramic views from God's Window. Later you'll reach your lodge near Kruger National Park and have dinner with South African specialties.

Kruger National Park
Get up early and head out in an open jeep for a full-day safari in Kruger National Park. You'll spot elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards and other wildlife across the savanna and scrubland. Back at the lodge by evening, you can relax and listen to the sounds of the bush.

Landmarks Kruger National Park - Day 7
Karongwe Private Game Reserve
Travel to Karongwe Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger area. Meet with a researcher from the Endangered Wildlife Trust's Cheetah Range Expansion Project to hear about protecting cheetahs and other carnivores. Then join them on a wildlife-viewing drive. Your accommodation is in comfortable lodge rooms or permanent tents.

Johannesburg to Victoria Falls
Fly to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, named after one of Earth's most powerful waterfalls. Visit a nearby village and browse the local market, then sit down with a local family to help cook a traditional Zimbabwean meal using ingredients you picked out. They'll share stories about life and culture in the area.

Victoria Falls

Hear from conservationists about threats to these endangered animals, then go on safari in a private concession bordering Hwange National Park.

Hwange National Park

Hwange to Chobe National Park
Leave Hwange and travel north, crossing into Botswana to reach Kasane, the gateway to Chobe National Park. Settle into your lodge and head out on a boat safari on the Chobe River. Look for hippos, crocodiles, bathing elephants, and lots of birdlife from the boat, and watch the sunset light up the sky.

Chobe National Park

Chobe to Okavango Delta
Take a scenic flight into the Okavango Delta. Climb into a mokoro (dugout canoe) and glide along waterways around camp. Check out the camp or swim if you'd like. After lunch, head out on a wildlife cruise watching for hippos and elephants. Back at camp, have a sundowner and then dinner under the stars.

Landmarks Okavango Delta - Day 18
Okavango Delta
Start early in mokoros, moving through narrow channels to Chief's Island, part of Moremi Game Reserve. Go on a bush walk with a guide searching for giraffe, zebra, lion, kudu, elephant, hippo and birdlife. Learn about tracks and medicinal plants. Return for brunch and free time, then have high tea. After tea, go out for a boating activity or wildlife drive. Tonight, stargaze and take in the sounds of the delta after dark.

Okavango Delta
Go out on morning and late afternoon wildlife excursions by boat, on foot, or by jeep, depending on water levels and conditions. Between excursions, relax at camp, swim, or read on the deck. Keep binoculars handy for wildlife passing by.

Landmarks Chief's Island - Day 20
Okavango Delta to Maun
After an early wildlife excursion, fly to Maun. Meet with a researcher from National Geographic's Okavango Wilderness Project to learn about their multi-year conservation collaboration. Watch the documentary 'Into the Okavango' and hear about delta conservation efforts. Later, experience storytelling and traditional foods with local author Bonty Botumile, who shares her knowledge of Botswana's cultural history around a fire.
