What people love about Turkey Tours in September
- Sacred Pathways: Tracing the Legacy of the Seven Churches 10 Day Tour
Our 10-day guided tour with Dorak was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were well taken care of. Our knowledgeable guide, Yavuz, brought the rich fabric of Turkey to life with a great sense of detail and witty humour along the way. Each destination offered something unique, from the breathtaking landscapes of Cappadocia to the stunning architecture of Istanbul. Highlights included exploring the ancient ruins of Ephesus, taking a hot air balloon ride over the fairy chimneys, and soaking in the natural beauty of Pamukkale’s terraces with a backdrop of Hierapolis. We were blown away by the variety of ancient & modern history, vibrant culture and landscapes we were introduced to in each region. The itinerary was balanced, allowing for both exploration and relaxation. Although we spent plenty of time on the road, it was a good opportunity to experience the scenery and coastline the country has to offer. Our accommodations exceeded expectations - they were comfortable and centrally located, making it easy to immerse ourselves in the local atmosphere. What truly made this tour special was the camaraderie among the group and the passion of our guide, who shared fascinating stories and insights at every stop. Their enthusiasm made each day feel like an adventure. It felt like we had a wise and patient friend to show us around their lovely home. Overall, the tour was an unforgettable journey through Turkey's diverse landscapes and rich heritage. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore this beautiful country!
- Turkey Explorer - 11 Days
We had a 7 night/8 day private tour through Turkey in January 2022, starting and ending in Istanbul, and it was absolutely amazing! From the WWI memorials in Gallipoli, to the impressive ancient Roman cities of Troy, Pergamon, Ephesus and Hierapolis, followed by the beautiful pools of Pamukkale, the large tombs of Rumi in Konya and Atatürk in Ankara, and the magical landscape of Cappadocia. All these sights were very impressive, with a lot of variety in setting and background, and some nice surprises. In just one week we traveled back through centuries of history. And Turkey is a beautiful country, perhaps even more when most of it is covered by a thick blanket of snow. The two of us were taken around by guide Metin and driver Emin and both did a fabulous job. Metin was able to tell us many fascinating stories at the various sights, and gave us plenty of time to explore. He also brought us to various local eateries for some delicious and varied Turkish food. Emin was a friendly driver who drove us safely from one place to the other, even when we had to face quite some snow along the road. Also kudos to Kerem through whom we booked our trip, with swift and clear replies to our questions. The hotels we stayed in (ranging between 3 and 5 stars) were good as well. And with the tour being private, we were more flexible than with a standard package, and always felt safe in these times of COVID-19. Do expect to be on the road for quite some hours though, as Turkey is a big country. But don’t let that put you off from visiting, and definitely consider Tour Altinkum because of their professionalism and perfect service!
- Best of Turkey Tour
Really glad I booked this tour with Fez to go around Turkey. The guide was really great and helpful especially with the transfers mess that happened with my departure transfer. The company messed up my transfer and Genghis organized with the office so that I didn't miss my flight and he was still carrying on with the second part of the tour. Turkey is so beautiful and there is lots to see and do.

What is the weather like in Turkey during September?
Turkey enjoys moderate temperatures during September with daily averages between 15-25°C (59-77°F). The pleasant climate marks a clear shift from the intense summer heat making outdoor activities more comfortable.
What makes September an ideal time to visit Turkey's historical sites?
The mild September weather creates perfect conditions to explore Turkey's rich archaeological sites. Visitors can spend more time at places like Ephesus and Troy without dealing with summer heat or large crowds. The Ilayda Avantgarde Hotel in Kusadasi provides a convenient location for day trips to nearby ruins. Major attractions in Istanbul such as Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia become more accessible as tourist numbers decrease.
Are there any special festivals or events in Turkey during September?
The month brings several cultural celebrations across Turkey. The International Istanbul Biennial runs throughout September while the Grape Festival takes place in Cappadocia's Ürgüp region. Wine regions like Sirince village host local harvest celebrations. How crowded are tourist attractions in Turkey during September?
September represents shoulder season in Turkey with fewer visitors than peak summer months. Major attractions like Istanbul's Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar see a noticeable decrease in crowds. Hotels such as the MD Barbaros in Canakkale report lower occupancy while maintaining their full range of services giving visitors more space to explore at their own pace.
What are the accommodation options like in Turkey during September?
September offers good value across Turkey's accommodation spectrum. Visitors can find rooms at boutique properties like the Ilayda Avantgarde Hotel in Kusadasi or distinctive cave hotels such as Gamirasu Hotel in Cappadocia. Many properties reduce their peak season rates while keeping service standards high allowing travelers to experience quality stays at better prices.
Are hot air balloon rides in Cappadocia better in September?
