What people love about Mexico Tours in March
- Classic Mexico Adventure
This tour was more than I expected. Bea was a wonderful tour guide. I never had a guide would interact so much with the group. She did all the activities with me and showed me how to jump off from the cenotes and waterfalls. Great and wonderful experience. Thank you!
- Mexico Unplugged (from Mexico City to Isla Cozumel)
The tour (13 of us toured) was well-organized, chocked full of interesting place an individual would never find on his/her own. Culturally enlightening. Plus lots of fun things (swimming in underground cave), without hordes of tourists around you. Our tour guide was Ornesto. He was organized, knowledgeable, and sensitive to everyone's one's needs and interests. Moreover, he seemed to enjoy (thoroughly) interacting personally with everyone in the group, and helped to form us into a real, vibrant community. We had a lot of laughs together. His communication and social skills are simply superb (very gifted). We had 5 teachers in the group, an elementary principal, an elementary teacher, a pre-college music professor, a performing music (and former teacher), nurse, CEO secretary, independent business woman, and some working people. I myself am a university professor. Our ages ranged from 29 to 70. Really interesting people who meshed together.
- Wonders of the Maya
The tour guide. Miguel Gomez as fantastic and also the driver. I think the hotels/food was just ok. The tour was good. We were disappointed in the Blue Lagoon. I would recommend this tour….. hope to be back soon. Viva Mexico

Which Mexican destinations are most recommended for March travel?
Mexico's diverse regions shine in March with comfortable temperatures and clear skies. The Yucatan Peninsula puts you close to archaeological sites and natural swimming holes known as cenotes. The weather is also good for exploring Mexico City's neighborhoods or walking through colonial towns like San Miguel de Allende and Oaxaca. Along the Pacific coast Puerto Escondido offers great surf conditions and beach time. Places like the NH Reforma in Mexico City or the boutique Casa Vieja in San Cristobal let visitors settle into local rhythms while exploring nearby attractions.
What are the best cultural events and festivals in Mexico during March?
The Spring Equinox at Chichen Itza (March 21st) draws crowds to watch sunlight create a snake-like shadow along the pyramid's steps. The phenomenon brings together natural geometry and ancient Mayan architecture. Beyond this major event local festivals fill town squares across the country. The Guadalajara International Film Festival typically runs in March bringing Mexican and international cinema to audiences. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "Experiencing the equinox at Chichen Itza was absolutely magical - the combination of Mayan history and natural phenomena made it unforgettable."
What wildlife experiences are unique to Mexico in March?
March marks peak season for gray whale watching in Baja California's Pacific waters. Near La Paz the Sea of Cortez creates perfect conditions for swimming alongside sea lions at Los Islotes. The Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve close to Tulum offers chances to spot tropical birds marine life and native species in their natural habitat. According to a TourRadar traveler: "The March whale watching experience in Baja was absolutely incredible."
What are the best areas to visit in Mexico during March?
The Yucatan Peninsula offers excellent beach conditions from Cancun to Tulum and Merida. The mild temperatures in Mexico City and colonial towns like San Miguel de Allende create perfect conditions for walking tours and outdoor dining. The Copper Canyon region welcomes visitors before summer's intense heat arrives. Many travelers choose to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Cancun or Hotel Del Gobernador in Merida as convenient bases for regional exploration.
What is the weather like in Mexico during March?
Spring brings reliable weather patterns across Mexico. The Cancun and Riviera Maya region maintains temperatures between 75-85°F (24-29°C) with low humidity. Mexico City and central regions see daytime highs of 75-80°F (24-27°C) followed by cool evenings around 50°F (10°C). TourRadar travelers note these conditions create "ideal conditions for exploring ruins like Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan without the intense heat of summer months."

Tourist numbers rise during March especially around Spring Break. Major sites like Chichen Itza and Tulum see peak crowds during the Spring Equinox.
