Local markets are where daily life really comes alive - take the market in Zadar Croatia where you'll find everything from fresh citrus and kiwis to local figs and amazing homemade olive oil.
How do I get around the Mediterranean on my own?
Getting around's actually pretty straightforward. Ferries are your best friend for hopping between islands and coastal cities with regular services connecting Barcelona Nice Split Dubrovnik and Athens. The local buses and trains are great for getting between cities and towns and they won't break the bank especially if you grab a transport pass. There's this absolutely gorgeous train ride along the Italian Riviera from Riomaggiore to Monterosso that our travelers can't stop talking about.
