What people love about Bicycle Tours in Mediterranean
- Cycle Portugal - Lisbon to Algarve
Portugal was amazing and beyond my expectations. This trip was one of the best cycling trips that I've taken. What made it so great was not only the stunning coastal scenery and beaches but also the guide, Goyo. He was always so engaged with the group and strived to make our experience special. No detail was neglected and he went above and beyond in assuring that everyone enjoyed the holiday. The meals that he arranged were fantastic. Our picnics were well-planned and not-rushed giving us plenty of time to relax and do our own thing at an interesting rest area or beach. Would love to take the Seville to Porto trip with him!
- Bicycle Across Italy! Cycling from Venice to Pisa Classic Self-Guided
The self-guided tour was extremely easy to follow. The Garmin and map with directions combination provided the information we needed to easily get around Italy on our first trip there. The selected roads were typically very good with fewer cars where possible. A couple of the gravel roads were rocky and difficult, but were only about 2km so very doable. The tour was easy riding with mostly flat roads. The destinations were very bike friendly. The description of each days ride and touring suggestions were extremely helpful. The hotel and B&B staff were excellent and prepared to store our bikes and luggage. The Lucca staff went above and beyond their regular service to assist us when we had to schedule an early departure due to a family emergency. We highly recommend this tour for a first time bike tour or for anyone wanting a moderately easy bike experience.
- Cycle Cilento & the Amalfi Coast
A bit clumsy in booking details as Exodus did not want us to contact them directly, so all matters had to go through Tour Radar. The trip itself went well - a very attentive tour guide 'Alex' made it even better.
What our customers ask about Bicycle Tours & Trips in Mediterranean
What are the most scenic cycling routes in the Mediterranean region?
The Mediterranean's premier cycling routes feature coastal paths and inland roads that connect ancient sites with pristine beaches. Albania's Riviera coastline leads to the UNESCO site of Butrint while Puglia's Valle d'Itria winds through olive groves past distinctive trulli houses. Croatia's Dalmatian islands of Hvar and Korčula showcase coastal beauty and historic towns. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The countryside is spectacular. I couldn't have been more impressed with the extraordinary views from country to ocean." Accommodations like Hotel Nertili in Sarandë provide comfortable bases for exploring these routes.
What is the best time of year for cycling in the Mediterranean?
Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) provide ideal cycling conditions in the Mediterranean with moderate temperatures and fewer tourists. Summer months bring intense heat particularly in Albania and southern Italy. A TourRadar traveler confirms: "May was perfect - not too hot beautiful wildflowers and fewer tourists." The Dalmatian Coast maintains pleasant conditions through September though inland routes become challenging during peak summer.
What type of accommodation can I expect on Mediterranean cycling tours?
Mediterranean cycling tours typically combine 3-4 star hotels with authentic local guesthouses. The Dalmatian Coast tour features properties like Hotel Labranda Senses in Hvar and Hotel Borik in Korčula each offering pools or beach access. According to a TourRadar reviewer: "The hotels were well-chosen for location and comfort after long days of cycling." These accommodations balance comfort with local character.
What's the typical group size on Mediterranean bicycle tours?
Tour groups maintain an intimate size of 6-16 cyclists allowing for personalized attention and easy social connections. The Dalmatian Coast tour generally hosts 12 riders plus guides. A TourRadar reviewer shares: "Our group of 14 was perfect - small enough to get to know everyone but large enough to find riding partners at your pace."
Are e-bikes available on Mediterranean cycling tours?
E-bikes can be reserved on most Mediterranean tours for an additional USD 200-300. One TourRadar traveler in Puglia noted: "The e-bike was perfect for tackling the hills while still enjoying the scenery." Advance booking is required and hotels like Hotel Belvedere in Matera provide secure storage and charging stations.
What's included in typical Mediterranean bicycle tour accommodations?
The accommodations blend 3-4 star hotels with local charm. Properties like Hvar's Fontana Hotel offer sea views and swimming pools while Portugal's Vila Galé Tavira places guests in historic settings. A TourRadar reviewer notes: "The hotels were perfectly located like the Memmo Baleeira in Sagres with stunning ocean views." These stays combine comfort with authentic Mediterranean experiences.
