What people love about Food & Culinary Tours in Mediterranean
- Charming Sicily Food & Wine Small Group Tour - 8 days
Overall our tour was wonderful. We had a great time. Denise, especially was a very good guide, very knowledgable and personable. The cooking class and our Palermo Street Food tour was, probably my favorites. A few areas that could have been improved upon: - A little more communication prior to the tour would have been reassuring. In this day of fraud it is a little unnerving to send all that money into the internet and not get much of a response. - The final communication, our itinerary, was a definite problem. We were told by Tour Radar that we would receive it 10-14 days before we left. The tour operator (ClickTours/Mossimo) told us we would receive it 8 days before we left. I finally called Tour Radar 6 days before we left
- Small Group Sicily Food & Wine Tour (Maximum 8 Guests)
Superb - excellent range of Sicilian food cooking and wines in attractive venues, a reasonable overall price, a nice small party (8), a flexible and accommodating Company, sufficient 'down time' and sight seeing in between the eating (!) - but suggest you skimp breakfast and eat light in the evening because the selected restaurants are generous. We have already started asking Massimo to plan another tour in some other towns in Sicily.
- Discover Matera and Taste of Salento Tour
This was a great experience. What made this tour unique was that it included private transportation to many places not normally included in tours. We feel we have a good idea now about what the Salento region has to offer. Emilio and Clara were excellent hosts. We learned about olive oil production, visited a winery, an artisan pasta plant, and a ceramics factory. The meals at the Masseria reflected local cuisine and were delicious. Excursions included Lecce, Alberobello, Ostuni, Gallipoli, Castro, Tricase and several others. After a week in Salento, we were driven to Matera which is an amazing place, somewhat other-worldly. Numerous movies were filmed there. Our hotel was the most unusual place we will ever stay in. It was a former cave beautifully repurposed. Interestingly, we appeared to be the only American tourists wherever we were on this trip. I highly recommend this tour.
What our customers ask about Food & Culinary Tours & Trips in Mediterranean
When is the best time to experience food and wine tours in the Mediterranean region?
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) offer the most pleasant conditions for Mediterranean food tours with comfortable temperatures and peak harvest seasons. Local markets overflow with seasonal produce during these months making it ideal for cooking classes in places like Taormina Sicily. The autumn olive harvest in Puglia adds a special element to the experience with visitors able to observe traditional pressing methods at local farmhouses. A TourRadar traveler noted "The fresh food Emilio prepared daily was very tasty and beautifully presented and autumn was perfect for learning about olive production."

Key wine destinations include Tuscany's Chianti region with its historic cellars and DOCG wines Portugal's Douro Valley renowned for port production and Sicily's Mount Etna area where volcanic soil creates distinctive vintages. Hotels like Taormina's Hotel Ariston serve as convenient bases for vineyard exploration. Travelers often note that "the wine tastings in family-run vineyards provided incredible insights into local production methods."
