An great way to see three beautiful countries in a short space of time. Well organised and thought through activities. I would not have seen half as much if I had planned the trip myself. The leaders are so knowledgeable and they make the trip pretty stress free.

Best tour companies for Indochina tours
Looking at the feedback from our travelers, Intrepid stands out for their guide quality, with Is Prapassorn getting particular praise. She's known for taking exceptional care of her groups and paying attention to all the small details that make tours run smoothly. Prestigo Asia has built a solid reputation with their guide Dat, who our customers frequently mention for keeping everything organized. They've also done well choosing hotels that hit the right spots for comfort and location. G Adventures offers some interesting and varied routes, and their Chief Experience Officers (CEOs) Sam and Charin know their stuff when it comes to local knowledge. That said, we've heard from some travelers that the accommodations can be a bit up and down, and there have been occasional hiccups with getting from place to place on their tours. What's interesting is how much the guide makes or breaks the experience - it's clear from the feedback that having someone like Is Prapassorn or Dat can turn a good trip into a really memorable one. While G Adventures has strong points with their varied offerings and CEOs, those inconsistencies with hotels and transport are worth noting if you're planning a trip.

Best time to visit Indochina
- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter's really the sweet spot for exploring Indochina, especially from November through February. Our 29-day circuit lets you take it slow when temperatures are just right. The overnight trains are a highlight - you'll drift off and wake up to misty views over rice paddies between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and later between Hanoi and Hue. If you're pressed for time, the 15-day route focuses on temples in the cool, dry season. Getting to Angkor Wat early means beating both crowds and heat, plus you'll find perfect conditions for cycling through Mekong Delta villages and their bustling floating markets. The 21-day cultural route hits a nice balance in winter, mixing structured temple visits with free time to explore. Recent travelers tell us they loved this flexibility. Ha Long Bay overnight cruises are particularly good this time of year - cool evenings make for great kayaking through limestone caves and sleeping under clear night skies. For a quicker trip, the 10-day tour efficiently covers key sites while weather's on your side. You'll explore Luang Prabang's morning markets, take quiet Mekong tributary cruises and join monks for their morning alms ceremonies.

- Spring 2026
Spring lets you experience Indochina at its finest, with perfect weather and fewer tourists around. Our comprehensive 29-day journey from Bangkok takes full advantage of post-monsoon conditions, giving you exceptional morning light to photograph monks collecting alms in Luang Prabang and soft evening sun at Angkor's temples. The 18-day cultural routes balance guided activities with free time to explore, and you'll find Hoi An's markets bursting with seasonal ingredients for cooking classes. A 16-day highlights tour becomes even better when sites are less crowded, creating ideal conditions to discover Hanoi's Old Quarter and paddle through Ha Long Bay. Active travelers tend to choose our 15-day route with village cycling and national park hikes, especially now when the trails stay dry. Those with tighter schedules appreciate the focused 10-day journey covering essential stops like Mekong Delta floating markets, quieter Angkor temples and hidden Mekong caves in mild, pleasant conditions. The overnight trains between destinations add authenticity to your journey, offering misty morning views across rice paddies between Bangkok and also Chiang Mai.

- Summer 2026
From Ho Chi Minh City through Vietnam and into Laos, our popular 10-day circuit fits perfectly with summer travel patterns. In Luang Prabang, the peaceful morning light provides ideal conditions for watching monks collect alms, while you can spend afternoons learning local recipes in village cooking classes or drifting along Halong Bay on traditional junks. Those opting for our 15-day routes get to experience the Mekong Delta at a gentler pace, cycling past brilliant green rice paddies, exploring floating markets full of seasonal produce and visiting Angkor's ancient temples in the cooler morning hours. Our travelers appreciate how summer itineraries balance cultural experiences in the early hours with free time to wander places like Hoi An's historic streets at their own rhythm. The extended 21-day journeys include peaceful nights aboard premium vessels in Halong Bay, intimate cooking lessons with local families and also hands-on sessions where you'll master regional dishes like cao lau noodles using ingredients from Hoi An's vibrant markets.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn's a fantastic time for our full 30-day circuit from Bangkok. Post-monsoon brings fewer tourists and really nice light for photos - great for capturing monks collecting alms in Luang Prabang's misty mornings or late light at Angkor. The 18-day cultural route works nicely for mixed groups, balancing guided activities with independent exploration. Our customers particularly enjoy Hoi An's cooking classes when the markets are full of fresh seasonal produce. The 16-day highlights tour makes sense in autumn when sites are less crowded. Recent visitors loved exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter in cooler temps and taking Ha Long Bay overnight cruises with ideal kayaking conditions. For those wanting more action, the 15-day route includes village cycling and national park hikes when trails are drier after the rains. The 10-day express option rounds things off well - you'll check out Mekong Delta floating markets, explore quieter Angkor temples and cruise to hidden Mekong caves in mild and pleasant weather.

How long do you need to really see Vietnam Cambodia and Laos?
You'll want at least 10 days to get a good feel for these amazing places maybe 3-4 days in each country to catch the highlights. The Indochina Highlights 10-day tour hits all the main spots perfectly. But if you can swing it go for 14-16 days you'll get so much more out of your trip especially with tours like Circle Indochine that let you dive deeper into each place.
Looking for places most tourists miss?
Vietnam's Hoi An is just magical with its old architecture tailor shops and those beautiful lanterns at night. You can catch the Hoi An Memories show or try out those fun coconut basket boats. Over in Cambodia Battambang's got this really cool laid-back vibe with colonial buildings and this amazing bamboo train. Vang Vieng in Laos is stunning with limestone cliffs everywhere perfect for kayaking and caving. The Blue Lagoon's great for a swim and kayaking through Tham None cave is unforgettable.
Need to know how to get around?
Sleeper buses are actually pretty comfy and won't break the bank they're great for overnight trips between countries. The Southeast Asia Discovery tour uses them a lot. If you're short on time flights connect all the major cities like Bangkok Hanoi and Siem Reap. For something really special try a river cruise down the Mekong especially between Thailand Laos and Cambodia. The South East Asia Loop tour has this amazing two-day cruise to Luang Prabang.
