- Day 1
Bangkok
Your driver meets you at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and takes you to your Bangkok hotel. After checking in, you'll have time to settle and rest up for the days ahead.
- Day 2
Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Head out early to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where you'll ride long-tailed speedboats through 19th-century canals built by King Rama IV. You'll see vendors selling fresh produce, handmade sweets, and local crafts from their boats. Later in the evening, transfer to the train station for an overnight train to Chiang Mai, which takes about 14 hours and 20 minutes.

Chiang Mai

Travel to Doi Suthep Temple, sitting at 5,300 feet (1,615 meters) atop Doi Suthep Peak. The 600-year-old Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep offers great views and plenty of spots for photos. The afternoon is yours to explore on your own around the area.

Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Chiang Mai International Airport for your 1-hour flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival, your driver picks you up and takes you to your hotel to check in and get comfortable.

Luang Prabang
If you're willing to wake at 5:30 AM, you can participate in alms offerings to saffron-robed monks, a centuries-old Laotian tradition, then walk the morning market. After breakfast, visit the Royal Palace, now a National Museum with exhibits from the former royal family. You'll then tour Wat Visoun (16th century), Wat Aham (early 19th century), and Wat Xiengthong (16th century). Stop at Wat Mai to meet monks, then climb 328 steps up Phousi Hill for sunset views of the city. Free time follows in the afternoon.

Luang Prabang
Take a 2-hour long-tail boat cruise on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves, passing Laotian villages and traditional fishing setups along the way. Explore two large cave sanctuaries with thousands of Buddha images ranging from small to over 2 meters tall. After returning to town by car, head to Kuang Si Waterfall for a hike through the national park. If you're up for it, continue to the main waterfall's top and swim in the pool. Back at the hotel, you'll have free time to check out the night bazaar.

Ha Noi to Ha Long Bay
Leave Ha Noi and head to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site with roughly 3,000 limestone islands rising from emerald water. The day includes swimming in a secluded cove and exploring hidden grottoes beneath tall cliffs. You'll sleep overnight on the cruise boat.

Continue to Cam Nam for Yin and Yang foods like Banh Dap and Che Bap. Afterward, visit My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site from the 3rd century Champa Kingdom, where you'll explore temples surrounded by mountains.

Stop at a cottage industry making coconut candies, then have lunch featuring Elephant-Ear Fish and other traditional dishes. Finish at Vinh Trang Pagoda, a national historical and cultural site.

Ho Chi Minh City
Visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network stretching over 250 kilometers used during wartime. Built in 1948 and expanded over 25 years, the tunnel system became an underground city with living areas, kitchens, weapons factories, and field hospitals where thousands lived. Two sections opened in 1988 are accessible to explore. For the adventurous, an optional firing range lets you shoot war-era M16 or AK47 rifles (fees separate).

Siem Reap
Rise at 5:00 AM to see sunrise at either Angkor Wat or Ta Prohm, the most photographed temple in the complex built in Bayon style between late 12th and early 13th centuries. Return for hotel breakfast, then explore Angkor Thom, which means 'Great City.' This sprawling 9 square meter complex has many monuments including the South Gate, Victory Gate, and quiet East Gate. Tour the Terrace of the Elephants with its 300-meter length and multiple platforms, plus the Terrace of the Leper King from the 12th century.
