What people love about Bali Tours in January
- Bali Experience 12 Day
The best tour I have ever been on. The main reason I, and the rest of my group agree that this was due to our guide Emma! She was able to encorporate a fun and exciting vibe with a caring attitude, ensuring we all felt safe and secure but also managing to have the time of our lives! She was very knowledgeable about Bali and was able to guide us on places to go to eat or drink. All of the group became so close and we all had an incredible time! Thank you Balintro and thank you Emma!
- 4 Days Bali Authentic Experience
Guide Eustis was excellent and very helpful. Drivers also excellent. Several sites had too many difficult steps to get to attraction. Tour description needs to make clients aware of difficulty of steps involved. Hotels were nice as well as massage.
- Wanderlands Gili&Lombok - 7 Days
Just finished the Bali/ Lombok tour, which I thoroughly enjoyed with the amazing group leader Stacia. Stacia’s local knowledge, her passion and friendliness are unmatched. I joined the tour half way through and she made me feel welcome and like I’d been there all along. Accomodation was great, I can’t comment on Ubud as I didn’t stay at the hostel, but the hotel in Gili T was approx a 1 min walk from the port. This is particularly great on an island that doesn’t have taxis (only horse and carts). The hotel in Lombok was stunning. Transport on the tour has been pretty good apart from the shared bus from Ubud to Padang Bai port, it was a little cramped. The boat to Gili t was a fast boat that took approx 1 hour 45 mins, this is so much better than what I’ve heard about with the slow boat. The boat wasn’t full and had aircon, but it did have a strong fumes from the engine. The speed boat we took from Gili to Lombok was a private boat with 200 horsepower, so was speedy and fun! We got picked up in Lombok in a private bus that we used several times during our time in Lombok. In Lombok on the waterfall hike day, I asked Stacia if I could take a bike instead of the hike, and she organised this for me, no problem! Riding on the Lombok roads this way was a fun experience. Overall I’d recommend this tour to anyone, even to the non partying older people like me as there’s always an option to party, but also plenty of free time for catching up on important sleep! Thank you Stacia for making this tour, it would not be the same without you.

What is the weather like in Bali Islands during January?
January brings Bali's rainy season with temperatures between 26-30°C (79-86°F). Coastal regions such as Kuta and Seminyak see quick afternoon downpours while inland areas receive more consistent rainfall. The Tabanan region and Mount Batur stay notably cooler. Yet between showers visitors find plenty of time for activities as noted by a TourRadar traveler: "the weather was so lovely."
Which areas in Bali are best to visit in January?
Ubud's rice terraces display their most vibrant green hues during January. The Bukit Peninsula including Uluwatu receives less rainfall than other parts of the island. Nusa Dua's protected beaches and Seminyak's resorts work well for January visits. A TourRadar traveler shares: "We loved staying at the Griya Santrian Beach Resort in Sanur during January - it provided perfect shelter during brief rain showers while maintaining easy access to activities."
What are the accommodation rates like in Bali during January?
As part of Bali's low season January offers hotel rates 20-30% below peak season prices. High-end properties like Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach and Komaneka at Bisma in Ubud reduce their rates while smaller properties such as Nick's Hidden Cottages become particularly good value. A TourRadar reviewer notes: "the accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained making it easy to relax and unwind after a day of exploration."
How crowded is Bali in January?
The reduced tourist numbers in January mean easier access to popular spots. Areas like Kuta and Seminyak see fewer visitors while places like Ubud keep their peaceful atmosphere. A TourRadar traveler reports: "We got to experience many beautiful spots without the usual tourist crowds." Remote areas like Pemuteran and Nusa Penida offer particularly quiet experiences.
What cultural festivals happen in Bali during January?
January features significant Balinese Hindu celebrations including Galungan ceremonies at major temples like Tanah Lot and Uluwatu. Local traditions come alive through Kecak fire dances temple ceremonies and cultural shows. A TourRadar visitor shares: "The Kecak dance performance at Uluwatu Temple during sunset was absolutely magical with over 100 performers creating an unforgettable atmosphere overlooking the ocean."
Is January a good time for surfing in Bali?
The west coast beaches of Canggu and Seminyak see larger swells in January attracting experienced surfers. Beginners find gentler conditions at protected locations like Kuta Beach. According to a TourRadar participant: "had us standing up and riding waves within the first lesson even with the January conditions."
