Itinerary
- Day 1
Stirling to Oban
You'll head north from Edinburgh through some classic Scottish landscape, starting with Stirling Castle before moving into the Trossachs. The route takes you past Loch Lomond and through the West Highlands, then through Inveraray with its distinctive white buildings from the 18th century. By evening you'll arrive in Oban for your two-night stay, giving you time to settle in and check out the harbor town.

Mull - Iona
An early start gets you to the ferry for Mull, where you'll see dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. From there, another ferry takes you to Iona and its historic abbey with carved stone crosses, or you can wander the rocky headlands and beaches if that appeals more. There's an option to take a boat out to Staffa for Fingal's Cave if conditions allow and you're interested. You'll ferry back to Oban in the late afternoon and have your second night there.

Oban to Plockton
The day pushes north along the west coast, passing Castle Stalker near Appin and then going through Glencoe. Fort William comes next, positioned below Ben Nevis (the UK's highest peak at 4,413 feet/1,345 meters). After Fort William you'll travel through the Great Glen, arriving in Plockton by evening. This fishing village becomes your base for the next couple of nights, so you'll get settled before dark.

Isle of Skye
Your driver-guide gets to decide what you do on Skye based on weather and what's working well that day. You might climb the Quiraing for broad views across Trotternish Ridge, or head to Loch Corruisk for dramatic scenery, or drive through the Red Cuillin hills toward Elgol. Later in the afternoon you'll head back to Plockton, leaving you with a free evening to walk around the village and grab dinner somewhere locally.

Plockton to Edinburgh
A shorter drive takes you to Eilean Donan Castle first, then you'll travel east with views over Loch Duich and the Five Sisters of Kintail. Loch Ness comes next with lunch break and a chance to scan the water (you never know). After that the route goes through the Grampian Mountains and along Loch Laggan past Dalwhinnie, where Scotland's highest whisky distillery sits at 1,164 feet/355 meters. You'll stop for refreshments in Perthshire before heading back to Edinburgh, crossing over the Firth of Forth as you near the city.
