The operator was not organized or helpful. The first meeting , he left no information as to where it was held, so I was uninformed from the beginning. In addition, during our various visits, we were dropped off at locations for hours with no plans to do anything . Optional excursions that I paid for were missed because he never announced which group was going where. The first hotel in Rome was in the middle of nowhere and the receptionist who spoke Fluent Italian was unwilling to call the driver of my prepaid Transportation. I have been a frequent traveler to various parts of Europe, namely Italy and by far this was the cheapest run trip. The dinners

Hotels are all very out dated and aged. Many of the hotels should be 2 or 3 stars, but the tour rates them as 4 star. Meals are all terrible quality and over priced for what you get. The tour guides were excellent. Overall, I would not go on another tour by them.

The Italian Scene tour was fantastic. You see the highlights of all the cities visited and the optional experiences are wonderful extensions. On top of that is the fact that the tour director gives us historical information and points out interesting things as we travel from city to city on the auto coach (bus) safely driven by an expert driver. Be ready for some fabulous experiences and delicious meals.

Our tour director Alfonso and the driver Massimo were very nice, respectful and professional. The coach/bus was always clean with working A/C, USB slots and Wi-Fi. However, most of the activities were extra, so we had to pay extra money. In regards to the hotels, only one of them was good and new, all the others were very old, most of them were far from everything and outside of the city, some the hotels' staff wasn't always courteous Ergife Hotel in Rome was very old, the carpets in the rooms were dirty with multiple stains and some parts were torn out. We needed to iron our clothes, the front desk employee said the room where the iron is is closed. Europa Stabia Hotel, the room was OK except for the hand/face towels that were like paper towel. They get very wet after the first use. In regards to the staff, the person who welcomed us was very nice but the breakfast area staff and especially their head was very rude and unpleasant. Frate Sole Hotel was changed last minute and we ended up staying at Villa Leonora at Assissi which was overall OK. The complimentary dinner was very good and the chef even went out of his way and made chicken for us because we don't eat pork. Burchiello II Hotel in Mira was very old, smelly carpets like mold, very poor breakfast with grumpy unpleasant restaurant staff. The room was tiny and so was the bathroom. If you need to iron your clothes, you have to wait for them to open a separate room which had an iron but a regular table. Starhotels Grand Milan Saronno was the best hotel of all. Clean, big and clean room, nice varied breakfast buffet, welcoming and pleasant staff. They have a laundry room in the basement with 3 washing machines and 3 irons with their ironing boards. Overall the tour was good, despite the hotels' choice.

This way one gets a better idea of the extra costs involved. BUT thank you for enlightenment & I did have a great trip.

This was an incredible trip. There was so much to see, however,I never felt rushed. The room at the Ergife hotel ( 1st night) was very disappointing. It was very small and needed to be renovated. The bathroom looked dirty. But, the last night we had a huge, beautiful room. I didn’t care for the boat ride on Lake Como. The food at the hotels were only average. Meals that were planned outside the hotels were wonderful. Our travel director, Paolo was fabulous! He was a wealth of knowledge and a very sweet person. I would highly recommend this trip.

    • CostsaverOperatorWritten June 2025

The specific style—whether buffet or hotel-style—may vary depending on the accommodations. Typically, the included breakfasts at the hotels where guests stay often feature buffet-style options. However, the exact format can differ based on the hotels. The Gondola ride is the only optional experience offered on this tour. The Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and Uffizi Gallery are not included and are not offered as optional experiences. If you wish to visit these attractions, you will need to arrange your own visit separately at your own cost. Costsaver no longer provides airport transfer, therefore, you will have to arrange your own transportation to/from the airport at your own cost. Pre- and post-tour accommodation refers to lodging available before and after your scheduled tour. These additional nights can be arranged through us, and we typically offer hotels at the tour's starting and ending locations.
