**Iberian Explorer Tour – A Fast-Paced Gem for Time-Savvy Travelers** As someone who frequently joins guided tours, I’ve come to appreciate the delicate balance between structure and spontaneity—and the Iberian Explorer Tour nailed it. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want to cover a lot of ground in Spain and Portugal without sacrificing quality or cultural depth. Our tour director, Tania, was a standout. She brought a wealth of ideas and local suggestions to the table, and handled our group with grace and professionalism—even when some participants routinely ignored her instructions for break times, lunches, and bus departures. Her patience and poise didn’t go unnoticed. Nuno, our driver, was equally impressive. He navigated every twist and turn with skill and ensured we arrived promptly at each destination. His calm demeanor and reliability made the journey smooth and stress-free. The tour itself was well-paced and thoughtfully curated. My personal highlight was Granada, especially the winding alleys of the old town—an atmospheric maze of history and charm. One evening in Lisbon, I opted out of the group dinner and instead explored Bairro Alto with a fellow traveler. We wandered through Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara and Igreja de São Roque before enjoying a relaxed meal at Tapa Do Bairro Alto & Bar. It was a perfect blend of local flavor and spontaneity. I’d absolutely recommend this tour to friends who are short on time but eager to experience the essence of Iberia. It’s a whirlwind, yes—but a beautiful one.

Don’t know how a 2 star company can hire and keep 5 star employees. The driver, Jose & Tour Director, Rachel, were excellent. Jose is an amazing driver who skillfully navigated tiny streets and kept us safe. He maneuvered the bus with incredible finesse. Rachel is knowledgeable, friendly, and her charming upbeat nature set the tone for our tour. She spoiled us with many treats that reflected the culture of places visited. She and Jose had a great rapport and their wit and humor only made things better. The tour itself was very disappointing. The ambitious itinerary disappointed because many of the stopping points were very short (an hour or so) and did not allow any in depth experience. For example, Fatima-the reason we chose this tour was 2 hours or less) and it was not possible to visit this shrine with any sense of reverence or to even see everything there. It was a frenzy of buying candles, lighting, praying. Mass was being said but I could only spend a few minutes there. Also had to make a mad dash t find souvenir shop and purchase items to bring home; holy water bottles and then try to fill them and run back to the bus. I have been on several European tours and never had to manage my own luggage. If I had known in advance, I would not have booked the tour because at 77, handling luggage is too much. In Malaga, we had to take our luggage up and down a very steep cobblestone incline. Even though the driver got us as close to the location as he could park, it was a nightmare. I tore a ligaments in my leg doing this and it pretty much ruined any further enjoyment of the tour because of the pain and restricted mobility. I am still being treated and have impaired mobility at home. The hotels were just OK. Some not so good -for example the first one with lime green decor, frozen in the 60’s or 70’s. It was worn out and too far from Barcelona to be accessible. The other hotels were typical of those catering to large groups-adequate, but showing their wear. The hotel staff in all the hotels was top notch. I could go on-but you get the idea.

Rachel was kind, helpful and intelligent. The local guides were interesting and informative. As well as eager to answer questions. The itinerary was very rushed with little written explanation of the time allowed for each excursion. Most disappointing of the entire trip, was the little time that was needed in Fatima.

This tour is fairly fast paced (as expected) to give a glimpse of different areas of Spain. Some more time/places in Portugal would be nice. Hotels were clean and comfortable, however, typically out of all the main cities meaning additional costs and time in taxis or public transport to go and explore in limited free time. Hotel dinners were poor to average standard.

This tour does include a stop in Granada, but the Alhambra Palace is not part of the standard itinerary. However, Granada is a relatively compact city, and visiting the Alhambra independently is quite feasible. If you'd like to go on your own, the site is accessible by taxi, bus, or even a 20–30 minute uphill walk from central Granada. If you have your own plans such as this, you can coordinate them with the Travel Director during the tour; they can provide guidance, suggestions, and help ensure your activities align smoothly with the group itinerary.

Costsaver does not provide transfers, whether complimentary or chargeable, so guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation to/from the airport at their own cost. However, Costsaver recommends that guests book a private transfer or shared shuttle directly through our trusted partner, Suntransfers prior to departure.
