  All was wonderful and very well managed by our Driver, Mr. Upali. With all our health issues we didn’t get maximum but we had a good time. Upali is a wonderful driver in every weather but also keeps an eye on tourists not to feel lost or unsafe. The Owner, on his side, made us feel welcomed from the booking day. He contacted me on Whatsapp so I was more calm about online booking.

  DO NOT book your tour with Holiday Lanka tours. We had an ok time, but it could have been so much better with a different tour guide/driver and by extension, tour company. This tour is advertised as being led by a “friendly chauffeur, who'd be English-speaking, professional, and knowledgeable”. Our driver was none of those things. He did not have the friendly, charismatic personality ideal for a tour guide. He’s a nice enough guy, but when we met him in the airport, he didn’t even introduce himself to us, simply led us to the car and started driving in silence. A big reason he did not want to talk much to us was that he could barely speak English. We had so much trouble communicating. There may have been times that he had something to say, but just didn’t have the vocabulary to express it, so he didn’t try. We would ask simple questions and get confusing non-answers. On top of not being able to communicate effectively, he was not knowledgeable. We asked why a city, building, cultural dance, or food was important or significant and he had no idea. He would say “It’s Sri Lankan” and kind of shrug. He had no interesting facts to share. So we decided halfway through the first day to lower our expectations and not think of him as a tour guide, but merely a driver. But on that front he was also lacking. Completely unprofessional. He was uncomfortable in the Prius that the company gave him to drive and he drove so slowly. We were constantly being passed by tuktuks, trucks and mopeds. He was constantly lost and had no smartphone, so he would pull over and ask locals for directions. So it took longer to get everywhere than it should have. He was not properly trained on how the highway system works and missed our exit every time we were on the highway. And when he did talk, he complained that the company didn’t pay him enough (only 1500 rupees per day), complained that he couldn’t find a hotel room to sleep in at night, and even asked us if we knew how to get a US work visa. He spent a lot of time in the car with us talking to his friends on the phone. Completely unprofessional. This is the person that the company chose to represent them. This reflects badly on the entire operation that they do not choose top quality people, train them, and pay them well. Book elsewhere! Also, they took us to the Pinnawala Elephant zoo. Do not support this organization! They mistreat the animals. They keep the elephants tied up in chains all day and control them with fear using pointy sticks with sharp hooks and barbs. Find an ethical way to see the elephants!

  A wonderful tour around southern Sri Lanka, Thasa was a great guide. Elephant orphanage the highlight. There is a lot of driving involved to transit between locations, so i recommend taking entertainment for the journeys. To ve expected when travelling long distances on mountain roads. Great way to experience different areas of Sri Lanka. Thasa was helpful throughout and is a great ambassador for the company, he even dropped my head phones (i left in the car) to a hotel in Colombo so i can collect before ww return home.

  What a treat to experience this park and the elephants and water buffalo and many beautiful birds. Our guide was very knowledgeable and determined to find the elephants and introduce us to the park.
