Itinerary
- Day 1
Dublin to Enniskerry
Starting at Marley Park in Rathfarnham, you'll begin with a gentle climb into the Dublin hills. The walk takes you through forestry tracks and rocky paths, passing Fairy Castle and Glencullen Forest along the way. You'll get great views of Dublin city and the coastline from higher points, and the route crosses into Glencree before finishing near Enniskerry village. The full day covers 23.3km with 404m of elevation gain, so it's a solid introduction to the Wicklow Way terrain.

Roundwood
After breakfast, you rejoin the trail through Crone Wood and walk past Powerscourt Waterfall in the Deerpark area. From there, you'll head into Dargle Valley and around Djouce Mountain, then come across Lough Tay, which you might recognize from 'Braveheart' filmed scenes. The route finishes at Roundwood and covers 16.9km with 502m of height gain. Pack extra snacks and water since shops aren't available along this stretch.

Glendalough
Near Roundwood, you walk quiet country roads and climb Paddock Hill, a bird sanctuary where Irish Red Grouse live. The day features winding grassy tracks through valleys with good views throughout. As you approach Glendalough, forest trails with Scots Pines, Norwegian Spruce, and European Larch line the path. You'll finish at the 6th-century monastic city of Glendalough. This shorter day is 7.2km with 240m of elevation gain.

- Day 4
Glenmalure
From Glendalough valley, you follow the trail alongside the lower lake toward the upper one. The climb via the Spinc uses steep steps but rewards you with views overlooking both the upper lake and the valley below. After that, you'll go around Mullacor Mountain into Glenmalure valley, an area with significant history and the site of major 1798 battles. This day totals 15.6km with 432m of elevation gain.

Return to Dublin
Your Wicklow Way trek finishes with organized transport back to Dublin. You can choose between bus or train to get back to the city, giving you time to recover and reflect on the walking you've completed over the previous days.
