Itinerary
- Day 1
Maun
You'll meet your group at the lodge in Maun around 5pm. The town started back in 1915 as the capital for the Batswana people, and it's got that frontier feel with cattle ranching and safari operations everywhere. This is where your adventure kicks off, so there's time to settle in, grab dinner, and get to know the other travelers before heading out into the delta.

Okavango Delta
Head to the Okavango Delta launch station in the morning and board a mokoro, which is a traditional dug-out canoe that'll be your transport to camp. Your poler steers you through reed-lined channels while pointing out red lechwe, buffalo, and elephant moving through the water. The birdlife here is constant - kingfishers and other species show up throughout the day. By afternoon you'll reach your tented camp right in the heart of this inland delta, one of the largest and most active on the continent.

Chief's Island, the biggest landmass in Moremi, used to be the Batswana's prime hunting territory. You'll track elephant, hippo, buffalo, and lion across these reserves. On day seven around midday you head back to Maun, then grab dinner at a restaurant that evening (you cover the cost).

Nata
There's an optional scenic flight over the Okavango if you want it (extra fee). After that you travel to Nata and then on to the Makgadikgadi saltpans, which stretch out like an endless white plain. When the rains come heavy, wildebeest and zebra migrate across the grasslands and flamingo congregate in the algae-rich water. Fair warning - recent rainfall means there's water in parts of the pans you'll be visiting, so the landscape looks different than it does in drier years.
