- MHMelanie· October 28th, 2025Great guide! Edvards was knowledgeable and kept us organized. He provided information in a engaging manner.Show moreTrip date: October 2025
Kathleen· October 1st, 2025As this was my first group tour and I haven't travelled for some years, these are my impressions as it relates to my personal experience. Some aspects were excellent - the CEO guide Natasha was extremely well organised, a clear communicator, and had a great rapport with every member of the tour group. She managed everything calmly and paid attention to everyone's different needs. The logistical arrangements were well prepared in advance and there were no untoward delays. Often we were allowed early check-ins to our accommodations, which was appreciated. I was not fully in holiday mode as I am in Europe doing a combination of work and other activities. My main focus in recent years has been supporting Ukraine, and this means that I am aware every day of the non-stop terror attacks across Ukraine, and the human cost and suffering. I'm not sure that this makes me a fun member of a tour group. Right now, Europe should be defending all the things we value against Russian aggression, because otherwise there won't be any more tours happening in this region, in the near future. I wanted to familiarise myself with the Baltic region and the tour was successful in achieving this. I feel safe to visit here independently now that I know how things work here. The reason that I haven't rated this tour as 'Good' or "excellent" is that I wasn't prepared for days long trips in a mini-van type of 'bus'. I am tall and while fit enough, I have had spinal surgery and other injuries in the past and also am vulnerable to migraines. For those reasons I am careful to not put myself in situations where these things may be aggravated. I had assumed that there would be comfortable room for everyone on the trip, but this wasn't the case. Several people were equally uncomfortable as I was. At times the ventilation in the mini-vans was inadequate, and this caused me some anxiety on a couple of occasions. A driver refused to wind down his window to let fresh air in, although he did make a stop so we could get out for 5 minutes for fresh air. This is unacceptable on a long trip. A basic requirement should be ventilation. I could not properly relax because there is no incline on these seats and I was squashed in. For a 5-7 hour day, travelling, this is just no fun and is more tiring instead of being relaxing. In future I would make enquiries about the type of vehicle to avoid these situations, because for some people it might be perfectly fine. Regarding accommodation, there was quite a variation, and mostly it was acceptable. A couple of places were nice, and a couple were pretty awful - cramped and lacking the basic amenities of even a small refrigerator and tea and coffee. Climbing stairs to my room wasn't a problem as I am fit enough and enjoy the exercise. Some rooms had no desk or table either. The hotel in Riga was a dive, but the staff there were very accommodating and did not mind us being in the dining area more often because our rooms lacked basic amenities. For example I was in the dining room working on my laptop one evening until late, because this was not possible in my room. Sharing a room with a 'stranger' was in this case not a problem for me because my room mate was very considerate, tidy and behaved well. Regarding the itinerary, I enjoyed my time in the cities of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn, and spent extra days before and after the trip, in the cities. I had a cold at the time we visited Helsinki therefore wasn't able to fully enjoy it. But the hotel there was excellent with a sumptuous breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the excursion to Curonian Spit and Nida. Coming from NZ I was able to contrast the similarities and differences, and it was quite a special day. A highlight was the smoked fish lunch, which was stunning, and mouth watering, and it was great to enjoy this 'feast' with a group. Overall, the tour was useful because I learnt about what kind of group tours I might enjoy more, and what things to avoid in future (as mentioned this was my first group tour). It was also good for me to be around people who were positive and friendly, I did benefit from being entertained by many of them. And I really appreciated getting to know Natasha and the fact that she took such good care of everyone.Show more
G Adventures commented on this reviewThanks so much for this detailed review, Kathleen! We have passed your comments regarding the transportation and hotels to the relevant teams for their review.Trip date: August 2025- AMathew Nicol· June 13th, 2022This trip for me was a once-in-a-lifetime type of trip. For someone who hasn't been to Europe in over a decade, the trip was everything I dreamed of and more. The food was fantastic, our tour guide was phenomenal, and doing this as a group tour through G Adventures probably made the experience a whole lot better. If I had gone by myself, I would probably never have seen Nida or Saaremaa, due to private transportation as a solo traveler being prohibitively expensive. In my mind, there wasn't a better way I could have done this trip. It was packed full of activities, yet a good balance of city/countryside, as well as group activities and solo time. The itinerary containing more info, and updating pricing for optional activities/transport is the best way to improve this tour.Show moreTrip date: May 2022Review collected by G Adventures
