Great tour, great scenery. It won't include much nature, mostly cities/towns/villages. Definitely at least once in a lifetime trip with many memorable moments - sunsets, beaches, lively towns, historic sites like Bayon temple (loved it!), massive caves like I haven't seen before, really beautiful sunset scenery when paragliding, gorgeous mountains you get to climb etc. It was really great. The accommodations will be very basic but expected given the price. It'll be very active as you'll be spending a lot of time on the road every 1-2 days, perhaps a "chill" day every few days would make the trip less exhausting, especially when you're doing this for a whole month, as you'll be drained by the end, not ideal! The main gripe would be the constant guilt tripping and even blatant "it's not cool to tip less than we tell you" messages from tour guides. Constant pressure to tip, which I'm ok with to an extent, but, let's be honest, the demanded tips were way too much in some cases. And the "we are very poor that's why it's your obligation to throw your hard earned money at us" speeches that would last up to an hour need to be toned down, especially when people aren't that poor, just living like everywhere else. Personally I didn't work hard to afford once in a lifetime trip to be constantly nagged and be treated like a cash cow when I've already paid and I have little doubt that generous tipping was already included in the overall cost. With that said the tour guides were overall very friendly, accommodating. Zero issues with transportation, though do be ready on occasion to be drenched in sweat the whole day and jump into a train without a shower!

Thank you so much for this helpful feedback, Aidar! We are glad to know you enjoyed your trip, but regret the excessive tipping conversations. We have passed this on to our relevant teams for coaching purposes.

This was my first time ever travelling without family and it was amazing! One of the best months of my life. Our CEO Tong was brilliant and full of knowledge about where we were going and what we would be doing. He made sure to have enough time for anyone and helped in anyway he could to make things run smoothly for everyone on tour including myself. If you go on this tour, make sure you ask for Tong or (Phanet Tep) as your CEO!

I've been travelling with g adventures since 2015 on 7 tours and unfortunately it's no longer the same company it used to be. My most recent trip to SE Asia with g was the worst travel experience of my life. G states it value customer experience, safety and service; none are true anymore. Problems: brown water coming out of taps, unable to wash for 3 days in a hot and sweaty climate fire broke out in wooden bungalow due to lack of electrical safety standards (exposed wiring in wooden buildings where water leaks onto said wires) bed bugs holes in mosquito nets Ant infestation mould standing water for insects under bungalows that were not properly sealed allergies made clear to guide, yet upon arrival food ordered set off allergies and i had to take medicines otherwise would have ended up in hospital or dead 8 allergic reactions in 4 days, resulting in severe rashes on neck and feet. Caused burning pain, bleeding, pus therefore unable to wear shoes or tops without further pain and suffering - 1 month for recovery, first week back my neck scaled up, was burning/stinging, itchy and my skin had gone grey. activities both included and optional were either horribly executed or extremely misleading in description and price. examples below Angor Wat is an amazing site, but the tour guide selected would constantly go on rants while the group stood in mid day heat (30-40C) with no shade, putting everyone at risk of sunstroke/dehydation. There was no adaptation to conditions and not only that but he took up most of the time explaining every detail on each and every wall of the site. This meant that we would only have maybe 5-10 mins to do any actual exploration of the sites and it was so rushed we didn’t get to enjoy the temples. The “floating village” was $25 each for an hour long ride in a “boat” that was constantly getting stuck, vibrations gave everyone back/bottom pains and to top it off there was not even 10 buildings total around, so to call it a village is not even remotely accurate. On top of that when we arrived there we just circled a couple of houses and headed back. It was a complete waste of time and money, a sentiment that was shared among the whole group. For 2 makeshift boats of 7 people based on what I remember that comes to $350, there is no way it cost anywhere close to that in fuel and time even after you deduct the tour company fee these are just a few of the problems we had on our tour, there are plenty more but it would take an essay to describe them all Overall for what the tour cost compared to what we got in return, including the activities felt like a money grab and there doesn’t seem to be any consideration for the health of the travellers. I’ve never in all my years travelling solo or with g adventures had to go to the pharmacy/hospitals so many times. The fact that every single person on the tour suffered in one way or another from health issues, something I’ve never seen before on a tour. Cost of tour for 2 people not including flights, visas, spending money: £4000+ Refunded amount after contacting the company and describing all issues: £300 Also their investigation process is a joke here is one of their findings: "Regarding the fire - the tour guide was not informed of this. The owner of the property advised there was a short circuit to the breaker, but there was no fire so the group was not in danger" which is hilarious as 4 people from our group including myself watched the staff put out the fire in the common area avoid this company like covid, just turned into a massive money grab with no concern for safety, experience or customer service

The tour takes you through all 4 countries, but don’t expect more than that. Think accommodation & transport only. Budget to spend the same again on activities, food and a lot of tips. It may be more in your interest to book separate tours for each country that take more time, see more and have more down days. Take it from an experienced traveller who booked as she thought the boarders would be bad. Turns out you just need to bribe your way through, well done G.

We never had any trouble and our tour was super smooth, she always have us a heads up and provided all the info before we had even thought about asking. Her food recommendations are the best! She always knew a few places to choose from and they were all amazing, and obviously safe to go for a Western stomach. She is always happy to help with anything, and I always felt extremely safe knowing that she will take care of us in the event of an emergency. I highly recommend her and would always go on a trip with her again!

Pimm is one of the best tour guides/general people ever, she’s so calm patient and kind. Willing to help no matter what, she took me to the pharmacy to get antibiotics when she could have just pointed out where to go. She goes above and beyond and made my trip incredible! Xx

The whole trip was amazing, I got to see, learn and do lots of different things. Would recommend it and especially Cheak as a guide to everyone, as he was constantly helpful, really enthusiastic about his job and the countries we've travelled and in general made the trip as great and fun as it was.

Is there a flight in this tour or everything is on bus and/or trains? If yes, is there a guide that will travel with us during the flight or are we gonna go on our own?

Once I book a date, can I change it to different dates based on the cheapest flight?

    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

We have terms and conditions in place which outline our cancellation policy. Changing dates would be cancelling, and then re booking.

    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten September 2025

The booking terms and conditions are as follows: Up to 30th day prior to departure: Your 20% non-refundable deposit is saved on your file as Lifetime Deposit towards a future tour. From 29th day to 3rd day prior to departure: 70% of travel fare becomes non-refundable: 50% cancellation fee + 20% Lifetime deposit. From 2nd day prior to departure up to departure day or in case of no show: 95% of travel fare becomes non-refundable: 75% cancellation fee + 20% Lifetime Deposit. We recommend to look into travel insurance coverage to recoup non-refundable fees.

What is the recommended baggage weight to take on this trip? Are we allowed all baggage types (carry on, check in bag)?

    Transport
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten August 2025

There is a weight restriction for the internal flight and trains on this tour. Each passenger is allowed to carry one checked bag with a maximum weight of 20kg (44lbs). Additional bags or excess weight charges may apply. We generally recommend backpacks rather than suitcases if possible.

    Asked on May 2nd, 2025

Could you please confirm the group size? Could you please confirm the group's age (approximatively)? Could I know more about where we'll be staying during the nights? Could you tell me what you would recommand to someone so they can enjoy this trip? What should they be prepared for?

    Age Range
    Group size
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten May 2025

The maximum group size for this trip is 18, so far on your chosen date we have 5 travellers booked. They are born in the 1990s and early 2000s, mix of males and females and a mix of solo travellers and a couple/pair of friends. Accommodation will be as follows: Simple hotels (twin-share) (14 nts), hostels (multi-share) (9 nts), sleeper trains (4 nts) homestays (2 nts). A variety of styles of hotels/guest houses are used on this trip. In many instances they might not be like what you are used to back home as service and efficiency can vary. In some areas we stay in simple local guest houses in stunning locations - rooms are small and simple and there may only be shared toilet facilities and showers.

    Asked on April 11th, 2025

For different VISA, I can take it during the travel or I must take it before the departure?

    Visa
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2025

Visa and Border Entry Requirements: Visas and entry requirements are the responsibility of the traveller. Generally, Thailand: Most nationalities do not need a visa for Thailand for stays of 30 days or less. Vietnam: Visas need to be arranged ahead of time (BEFORE your trip). Laos: Check E-Visa eligibility. Cambodia: Visas can be obtained on arrival or in advance.

I'm French, so I only need to take visa for LAOS before departure? And for my luggage, how does it work? Is it better if I take a large bag or a suitcase? Given that we'll be moving around regularly.

    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten April 2025

Yes you will need a Laos Visa. As for luggage there are some weight restrictions for internal flights and trains max weight limit is 20KG. It is ideal to travel with a checked bag sized bag as it is easier to transport around.

    Asked on March 8th, 2025

Is it possible that your organization can find and book flights for me? What exactly do the accommodations look like, or what are the names of the hotels where one stays? What kind of luggage makes sense? A large backpack or would a suitcase also be okay? How are the transports, mainly public transportation or do you have a dedicated bus? Do you have to pay for all activities extra or are some included?

    Transport
    • G AdventuresOperatorWritten March 2025

We are not able to book flights for the tour, so you will need to book them on your own. Suitcases are not recommended for our trips! Most travellers carry a backpack or rolling bag of small to medium size (no XXL ones please!) as they need to fit under the beds when travelling on sleeper trains. Please Note: The high speed train has a luggage limit of 20kg per person.
