Get up at 4:30 AM to catch the famous Angkor Wat sunrise. Bring a light jacket since mornings can be cool. Take your time exploring the temple complex, with breaks during the hottest parts of the day. In the evening, check out the night markets and Pub Street. Make time for Phare, a unique circus featuring talented local performers.

14 Days in Southeast Asia, incl. Bangkok and Hanoi
An extensive 29-day tour spans 14 cities across Asia, covering 4,000+ kilometers. Highlights include overnight trains through Thailand, Mekong River cruises, Ha Long Bay sailing, and UNESCO sites like Angkor Wat. Features stops at community projects and local villages.
- Days 1-2
Bangkok
Start your journey in Thailand's vibrant capital. Visit Wat Po in the morning before 8:30 AM to avoid the crowds then explore the Grand Palace. Consider a longtail boat trip through the klongs. As one traveler noted: "Getting to see the klongs by longtail boat gave us a totally different perspective of the city than just walking around." Take an overnight train to Chiang Mai and book a lower berth for extra space.
- Days 3-4
Chiang Mai
Walk through the Old City temples early before it gets hot. Sign up for a cooking class which most travelers say is a highlight of their trip. Visit Doi Suthep temple around sunset for great views. One reviewer shared: "The evening food market near the North Gate was incredible - try the khao soi from the stall with the yellow awning."
- Days 5-6
Luang Prabang
- Days 7-8
Vang Vieng
Take the high-speed train from Luang Prabang which takes about 4 hours. Remember no aerosols or liquids are allowed on board. The dramatic karst scenery makes this spot perfect for outdoor activities. "The kayaking was peaceful in the morning but got busy with party tubes by afternoon," noted one reviewer.
- Days 9-10
Hanoi
Fly to Vietnam's capital. Get a paper map to navigate the Old Quarter since Google Maps isn't always reliable here. Visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum before 10:30 AM when it closes. Book tickets in advance for the water puppet show at Thang Long Theatre.
- Days 11-12
Halong Bay
Take a 4-hour bus ride to reach the bay. Book a 2-day cruise to see the less crowded areas. As one traveler mentioned: "The smaller boats can access caves and inlets the big ones can't reach." Bring motion sickness medicine if needed.
- Days 13-14
Back to Bangkok
Take a 2.5-hour flight from Hanoi. On your last day visit Chatuchak Weekend Market if it's open or spend time in air-conditioned malls if the heat is too much. A traveler tip: "The Airport Link train is faster than taxis during Bangkok's rush hours (7-9 AM and 4-7 PM)."
31 Day Southeast Asia Itinerary, incl. Bangkok and Hanoi

- 31-Day Southeast Asia Adventure: Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia
The tour guides were all great however I feel the organisation of the tour could be improved - we spent a majority of the trip traveling and often when it came to travelling between countries there wasn’t enough information about what we needed provided creating a stressful experience
