Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Tram Ton Pass to Tam Duong

    You'll start early with a car transfer heading uphill to Tram Ton Pass. Along the way, there's a walk out to Silver Waterfall and then up to Heaven Gate where you can see mountain views including Fansipan peak. After that, you'll transition to cycling, riding mostly downhill toward Binh Lu with a stop in Chu Va village where the Black Hmong people live. Grab lunch at a local restaurant, then the afternoon switches to mostly uphill cycling (the support vehicle is there if steep sections get tough). You'll finish with downhill riding into Tam Duong where you'll stay the night.

  2. Day 2

    Tam Duong to Pa So

    From Tam Duong, you'll cycle uphill following the Na River tributary. You'll pass through areas where gold exploration happens and see villages of Thai minority people. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Pa So. The road flattens out after that as you head toward the Sino-Vietnamese border, and you'll have nice river views the whole way. Later you'll return to Pa So for the night and can relax with a cold beer on your hotel balcony overlooking the river.

  3. Day 3

    Pa So to Lai Chau

    Mostly downhill cycling from Pa So as you follow the Na River toward Lai Chau. You'll stop at Thai minority villages along the way, and these are the largest ethnic group in this region. By early afternoon you're in Lai Chau, checking into your hotel and having a late lunch. After some rest, you'll head to the river for a boat ride going downstream on the Black River with a stop to visit a Thai minority village and learn about how people live there. The transfer back to the hotel happens in the late afternoon.

  4. Day 4

    Lai Chau to Dien Bien Phu

    This is the longest cycling day, but you'll be on good roads so the riding is comfortable. You'll arrive in Muong Lay by noon with time to walk through the local market. Lunch happens at a local restaurant or you can have a picnic meal the hotel prepared. Then you continue toward Dien Bien Phu on good roads through nice scenery. The route is downhill at first, then flat as you get closer. Dien Bien Phu sits surrounded by mountains and rice fields, and after settling into your hotel, you'll take a walk around the nearby market.

  5. Day 5

    Dien Bien Phu to Hanoi

    After breakfast, you'll take a bike ride around Dien Bien Phu town to see historical sites like the Dien Bien Phu Museum, Glory Statue, A1 Hill, and De Cattery Tunnel. You'll head back to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, you get a transfer to the airport for your flight to Hanoi. That's where the trip ends.

  • Payment information
    • For any tour departing before January 3rd, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after January 3rd, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Absolute Asia Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
