- DMDavid· October 6th, 2019All was great except the village walk in Maun( I believe) was a holiday so our guide took us to a political church service! - ChristieLew· August 10th, 2019Overall this tour was amazing! There are some incredible game drives and fun places to say. A few of the excursions are a bit mediocre and the days on the bus can be very long. It was 100% worth it though. - Madara· May 29th, 2019Southern African Magic Accommodated exceeded my expectations. Not only did I experience what I called "National Geographic Live" and managed to see ALL the animals on my bucket list but one, but the tour was also excellently organized. We had a great guide, Simon, who took care of us all. I have to specifically thank him for looking after my mom at times when she did not participate in scheduled activities. The accommodation were impressive considering that we sometimes were in the middle of nowhere. We always had a pool, great lounge areas and it was very atmospheric - really at times felt like one is on a luxury safari tour. The bungalows sometimes were in private game reserves (therefore increasing animal encounter possibilities) which I loved. I have to admit that I was nervous about the long drives, but the bus was spacious and comfortable and Simon was a very safe driver. The time went by painlessly looking out of panoramic 360 windows (yes, without curtains, but that meant unobstructed view) and listening to Simon on various subjects ( that we quizzed him on) including local life, history, food, etc. Also playing UNO with the rest of the gang. :) I work in the travel industry and I have to say I could not have picked a better tour for the quality and the price point. This was really a once in a lifetime experience, during which, my mother actually had to say: "Please, not another elephant." :DShow moreAcacia Adventure Holidays commented on this reviewDear Riga, Thank you for your kind words and review. Asked on April 22nd, 2025What is the fitness level? Do you allow solo travelers? Do you have a solo traveler fee? Are the accommodations in lodges or are they campgrounds?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written April 2025
We kindly ask that clients are able-bodied and in relatively good health. There aren't any long distance walks but one must be able to get in an out of a high raised vehicle with ease and be able to withstand some longer drives, often bumpy roads. A single supplement is optional, or you will share a room with a fellow solo passenger of the same gender.

Asked on January 20th, 2025As I am currently 69, and my back and knees are a little weak, but functioning quite well, I am concerned about the vehicle we would be travelling in. I guess we would be on rough dirt roads often and am wondering about the suspension? Also, what would be the duration of most journeys?

Traveler•Written January 2025If we travel in September, would we see dying and dead animals from the dry season?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written January 2025
There is no strenuous walking involved on this tour. We have one morning where - if you wish - you can walk in the Okavango Delta (mostly flat dirt pathways in the bush) but there is no compulsion to do so.
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written January 2025
Meals are prepared for clients along the way, clients are not expected to assist in that. It is usually possible to buy a bottle of wine beer or local spirits.

Traveler•Written January 2025I would like to know what sort of vehicle we will be travelling in as after hours of travelling over rough roads I don't know how my back would be?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written January 2025
The vehicle is a 12 seater mini-bus... and roads are for the most part sealed and of reasonable quality but there are some sections of unsealed road. In game parks most vehicles are 4x4 safari vehicles. Roads are mostly unsealed and can be bumpy in some places but not in our view excessively so.

Asked on November 15th, 2024When is the best time to see the big 5
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2024
The 'SAM14A' tour runs all year round and is popular throughout. The hottest time is Oct/ Nov when you can expect daytime highs of over 30 centigrade. The coolest time of year is May/Jun/Jul when night time temperatures can fall below zero. Game viewing tends to be best around Jul/Aug/Sep.
