- LHLukas· May 17th, 2024Great tour with the most friendly Tourguide you can get! We went on the River Kwai & Ancient Thai Kingdoms tour in may 2024 and we loved the insights we received! Our Tourguide, Nai, has been so kind and knowledgeable and really made our experience worth. After a very interesting stop in ayutthaya, where you can experience the summer residence of the King as well as the ancient temples from the old capital the tour moved on to Kanchanaburi where we stayed for two nights. There we were able to experience and swim in the beautiful Erawan Waterfalls, see the Kwai bridge and ride along the infamous Burma Siam Railway. You will also learn a lot about the constructions of the railway during world war 2 where many local workers and Prisoners of War built the railway in 1 year with many casualties due to the difficult terrain and working conditions - the cemetery and the museum a very well kept and very informative. Last but not least, you will also experience the night market where Nai showed us a lot of local specialities that we were eager to taste. Overall and amazing experience that was a perfect way to spend three days around Bangkok. 5/5 well deserved!Show more

Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Ruth, We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip and found it to be educational. We agree, Arja is an awesome guide, so we're very happy you enjoyed your time with her! Beautiful photos too, thanks for sharing!!Trip date: September 2022- MCMarion· April 4th, 2020River Kwai & Ancient Thai Kingdoms Tour This was a fabulous three day tour covering a variety of scenic, cultural, religious and historical sites which we found interesting, enjoyable and emotional at times. We had an excellent guide, Nai, a friendly and conscientious young man, who had a wealth of knowledge about all the places we visited along with the traditions, food and lifestyle of the Thai people. He gave us the opportunity to actively participate in the visits to the Temples and Summer Palace which deepened our understanding and enjoyment. The ruins of Ayutthaya were imposing and covered a wide area. Erawan National Park and waterfall were very nice although we would have liked more time to climb to the upper levels. One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to the Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre and Memorial Walkway. The presentation of the horrific sufferings of the Allied POW’s ad Asian conscripts is sensitively done and the walk is very evocative. The train journey along the tracks of the original death railway was actually still an operating service used daily by workers and school children. Nai introduced us to the night markets in Kanchanaburi and supported our choices whilst eating with the locals. Walking over the River Kwai Bridge and taking a rickshaw to the Allied War Cemetery was a unique experience. The Cemetery and Museum reinforced the sad history of this place. We would highly recommend this very memorable tour which we know was enhanced by having such a great tour guide and accommodating driver, Mr. Bob.Show more
