  A great trip, lots of varied and interesting activities, fantastic scenery, a suberb leader, Matish, a small friendly group from 5 different countries, good weather most of the way. All the hotels were comfortable and very clean, some were excellent. I felt safe everywhere, even on my own after the trip. The local people were friendly and welcoming everywhere. I would love to come back to Sri Lanka some day.

  The tour led by Prageeth an independent tour leader contracted by Intrepid Travel , the supplier was phenomenal (above excellent). However my experiences with the wholesaler/booking agency Tourradar was dismal. Once I paid and signed up they were almost non-communicative. I had critical questions about tour information that I submitted to there private network and both times it took over 7 days to get an incomplete response. Since I was a few days from departure, I tried there messenger service on the website and had to wait for 7-10 minutes for each response to a query. I spent over 45 mintues on the messenger to finally get the starting hotel since they would not let me talk directly with Intrepid and to top it off they told me an old inactive hotel. I only lucked out because I happened to book at another hotel which was to my good luck the starting hotel. I never received a tour document from tourradar and they still were claiming my starting hotel was Rani Beach Hotel, which Intrepid has not used for more than 1 year) instead of Ruvisha Beach Hotel which I booked by serendipity. Its hard enough with covid and Sri Lanka going into demonstrations without your tour operator giving you little, no information and incorrect information. I did Cuba with tourradar 3 years ago and it was great -- but with this experience I can no longer recommend them. Top management at tourradar needs to look at this and change their tight close to vest information policy. Your website claims the tour package is delivered about 2 weeks before the trip, why didn't I ever get a package? Why can't you hire enough live operators to respond in a reasonable time (7 minutes is an eternity to wait on an instant messenger that doesn't even tell you what is happening)? Covid while damaging is no excuse.

  Absolutely Fabulous tour! Visited a lot of the usual tourist sites but it was the cycling, trekking and local experiences that made the trip so special for me. Our guide Prabarth was amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I feel so fortunate to have met him. The tour covers a lot of ground so it isn’t a trip for someone who wants a lot of relaxation time. For me it was a perfect balance. You can sleep on the mini bus if you need to. Not all the accommodation was up to standard ( the basics for me are hot water, electric points and a clean room). Also intrepid had altered some of our trip due to covid. Such as visiting Negombo fish market and the bambarakanda waterfalls. But this didn’t make sense as we were then on a crowded train and in crowded temples. It was great to travel with the same people and guide throughout as we really bonded and this made the tour even more enjoyable. I absolutely loved Sri Lanka, the culture, wildlife, geography, the people. It’s a fascinating and rich country in so many ways! I particularly enjoyed the tea plantation days and the train ride from Kandy to bandarawele. We also went to the elephant safari as an optional excursion which was wonderful and I snorkelled with giant green turtles in Merissa. I wouldn’t hesitate but to recommend this tour.

  The tour was good, our tour guide Indiaka was excellent. Maybe some days had a bit too much squeesed in and didn't leave much free time. As the tour was cancelled with 5 days remaining, we had very little notification from Tour Radar. Now we are being offered a credit which won't work for us and would like to get a refund.

  5 stars - Our guide Indika Prasad was exceptional. - in tour organising, our safety, commentary, after hours support with restaurants and dining, taxi and transport. On the sudden cancellation of the tour Indi kept us fully informed and worked with every individual to ensure that they were safely at the airport with tickets. He also assisted others who were NOT on his tour late into the night and again at 3am to ensure transport to airport. No stars!! We were NOT kept informed by Tourradar or Intrepid of the tour cancelation or need to leave country about pending airport closures. Nor have I found any support in seeking an outcome for a refund for the component of the tour that was cancelled.
