You are moving at a fast pace with your oxygen saturation in the 80s ( all except 1 individual in our group) in unpredictable weather. The hike may be more enjoyable if the pace is changed (another day is added to the itinerary). Besides that -it was well organized, team leaders worked well, porters and cooks were fantastic. I am writing this detailed review so that people who want to sign up will know what the challenges are.Show more

He checked on me often and got me a doctor. He even gave me his number to contact him even after the tour was over just in case I was still feeling ill after I left Cusco. He was amazing and I'm very grateful to him. As a female traveling alone, he definitely made me feel less alone. Great guy and very passionate about what he does. This tour starts in Cusco at Hotel Awkis Dream (hotel subject to change) with a welcome meeting at 2 pm. At the welcome meeting, you will meet your guide and fellow travellers and spend some time acclimatising to the high altitude (3,450 m) before heading out on an orientation walk.

A single supplement is available on this tour at an additional cost if you would prefer your own room/tent on the tour. However, if you don't mind sharing, you will be roomed with a fellow traveller of the same gender in both the hotels and tents.

Intrepid chooses not to provide hotel lists until day 1 of the tour however they have confirmed they use a combination of camping (with basic facilities) and hotels, depending on your choice on the tour of doing the hike or train ride. If you choose to do the camping for the hike you will be in twin-share tents, with foam camping mats provided.
